When listening to the comments of the "experts", inevitably, it will be Mark Brunell as their chief reason for why they believe the Redskins will fail this season. Nevermind that he had the best touchdown-to-interception ratio of his career, most of the naysayers believe he was running on fumes last year. The fact that the starting offense didn't score a point or even reach the redzone in preseason didn't help to convince anybody otherwise.
If Brunell gets nicked up, and Gibbs shows the type of blind loyalty that he did in the '04 season, only under that scenario would I say they could be right. When healthy, he's more than adequate. But the slightest injury at this stage of Brunell's career seems to render him completely useless. Witness the knee injury in the second Giant game last year as evidence.
Yes, there very well could be "Start Jason Campbell" threads if the Redskins falter tonight -- the problem is, there could be legitimate reasons to start those threads.
