I didnt agree with archuleta being over rated. I think he will excell in williams' defense and will be a great safety for the skins.i agree. i think he was a star on a defense that has been horrible for years.

Redskins8588 07-06-2006, 04:30 PM Finally someone calls this guy out for what he is... extremely overrated! Big hitter, but he stinks in coverage. Exhibit A: http://images.sportsline.com/u/photos/football/nfl/img9542770.jpg can that pic be made into an avatar? that would be cool!!!! scowan 07-06-2006, 04:37 PM I didnt agree with archuleta being over rated. I think he will excell in williams' defense and will be a great safety for the skins. Archuleta is overrated because this guy thinks the Skins paid too much for him that all. Arch is an upgrade over Ryan Clark. We should be OK in coverage with Springs and Rogers at CB. Every Safety gets beat from time to time, Arch will help in run coverage and the many Blitz designs that Greg W. will put in. We will have two Big Hitters at Safety this year which will scare receivers into dropped balls and short routes. (see Terry "scary" Glenn last year)Arch won't cover much one-on one, but in zones. BDBohnzie 07-06-2006, 04:50 PM Archuleta hasn't done as much in his career because of injury. He'll be a good addition to the defense, but i can see why Prisco called him overrated. He hasn't lived up to his potential. Hopefully, he'll prove to everyone that he's more than worth the money the Skins paid for him. FRPLG 07-06-2006, 05:03 PM Arch is not as bad in coverage as his rep would have you believe. He isn't great but he can do an average job. He brings some athleticism to the spot and an overall intelligence upgrade. I think he rounds out our secondary and gives us a little more versatility with Taylor. Taylor hits mean(and we love it) but his value is in down field coverage where he is more athletic than any safety in the league, 95% of the CBs and 85% of the WRs. He is a ball hawk who scares the hell out of WRs and most TEs. Arch can support the run almost as effectively(if not as spectacularly) and Taylor is clearly an upgrade in coverage than any saftey we have had in years(or ever really). If healthy our secondary is the best in the league without doubt. A pro bowl quality CB on oneside. A quality(maybe probowl if he continues to progress) CB on the other. An elite Strong Safety. A somewhat overrated safety who will asked to do what he does best. Our depth is weak but we can cross our fingers. TheMalcolmConnection 07-06-2006, 05:07 PM I also don't think we are planning on having Arch doing a lot of coverage anyway. I think he's supposed to be playing up in the box so that Taylor with his freak athleticism can do what he does best. mooby 07-06-2006, 05:07 PM Arch is not as bad in coverage as his rep would have you believe. Taylor is a free safety, Archuleta is a strong safety. GTripp0012 07-06-2006, 05:26 PM That's all he's good for. He's so slow he has to horse collar people. I wonder if they've ever considered moving him to LB. Seems like a better fit there for him. There is no good place for a converted safety in the 3-4. Maybe after Parcells leaves and the team moves back to the 4-3, they will consider something like that. FRPLG 07-06-2006, 05:35 PM In that last paragraph, i think you mixed up strong safety and free safety. Taylor is a free safety, Archuleta is a strong safety. Yeah I misspoke(typed??). I would seriously wonder if he could even be effective taking on blocks. He is a run and hit type and not a shed block and make play. If a guy like Arrington has problems shedding blocks to make a play someone smaller and less talented like Williams would be a pushover. I think he'd be better at bagging groceries in Santana's neighborhood Safeway really. |
