As the undisputed Fence Riding Champion Of The Known Free World, I must put my two cents in ...hey, wait that's not a penny!

(ahem)
If anyone thinks that our season's success rides on us keeping either Patten or Jacobs then the NFL needs to hand over the Lombardi trophy right now. I never have been a Jacobs fan. Patten is Patten. He's fast and shows a good work ethic, but he will be our #4 option. That's it. Whoopee! Keeping Patten does not put us that much closer to the championship game and keeping Jacobs doesn't put us that much farther away.

I agree. Ultimately, if our success hinges on Patten or Jacobs, god help us.

True enough. I believe it all comes down to injuries. If we stay relatively [major] injury-free, I think we have the best shot out of ALL TEAMS to take it all.

I can only half agree with this. If we have to depend on Taylor Jacobs, then God help us.

But I see no reason why Patten can't carry the load. I think it's quite possible he could beat either Lloyd or Randle-El for the #2 job. Don't forget, Gibbs doesn't care how much money these players make. $10 million bonuses to ARE and Lloyd don't mean squat to Gibbs if Patten is the better player.

If ARE and Lloyd go down, and we're left with Moss & Patten both healthy as our starting WRs, it's not a God help us situation. It's thin, but it's still a good situation. Remember Moss's numbers last year when Patten was on the field? He can add a lot to the offense.

PS We won't have to count on Taylor Jacobs. He's not going to make the team. Triple stamped it.

And I don't care if you can't triple-stamp a double-stamp.

Not to open a whole other can or worms, but, with all this Patten vs. Jacobs talk, where does that leave Thrash? Is he kept around primarily for his special teams ability? I feel like he needs to be considered a potential #4 WR, but Patten is better at this point IMO.

Taylor Jacobs: Yo, Coach! What's new?

Coach Gibbs: Well, we just signed a pretty darn good player named Antwan Randle El.

Taylor Jacobs: Really!? He's gonna be are KR this year?

Coach Gibbs: Yup, and he'll be part of our receiving core to complement Lloyd.

Taylor Jacobs: Lloyd? Brandon Lloyd? We got him too?

Coach Gibbs: mmm-hmm. yup, he'll be an exciting addition to our team.

Taylor Jacobs: We still got Patten, right?

Coach Gibbs: You got it, I really like his toughness.

Taylor Jacobs: Man, that's gonna be pretty strange keeping five receivers on the team, ain't it.

Coach Gibbs: mmm-hmm. yup, it would be strange, wouldn't it?

I definitely think Thrash sticks because of special teams. I'd say he's a solid lock for the #5 WR.

Gibbs: I like my WRs to be super tough and to fight their guts out week in and week out.

Jacobs: I think I have a headache.
