Right, Jacobs might have all or MORE of the physical tools needed, but he just doesn't have it upstairs.
So we should have sent him to Europe years ago?

Patten to be released?ArtMonkDrillz 06-28-2006, 02:54 PM Right, Jacobs might have all or MORE of the physical tools needed, but he just doesn't have it upstairs. So we should have sent him to Europe years ago? TheMalcolmConnection 06-28-2006, 02:57 PM Coming out of Florida you couldn't have convinced me otherwise he would have sucked this much ass. I was one of the last people to fall off the Jacobs-bangwagon last year too. I think Daseal is the lone driver. I think we all gave him chance after chance and he never put up. When you make comments like the one's he's made, you lose faith in a guy. Schneed10 06-28-2006, 02:59 PM I would be careful to judge any WR in our offense the previous 2 years, Moss's ability to seperate from defenders regardless of whether or not they knew where he was going is IMO a big reason why he's the only WR to have any real success within the last 2 years. What made Patton so great last season? In fact he was complaining about his lack of success in our offense before he pulled a Jacobs and was put on the IR. What made him a desirable commodity was the Patriot offense and Tom Brady, if you believe Jacobs wouldn't be head and shoulders better right now playing in that offense instead of our's the last 2 seaons your only kidding yourself, this season will be a true test for Jacobs, I believe he will excell under Saunders, the only question is can he stay healthy? And that's a big if, but I do believe the talent is there to be a top #4 WR. I think the battle for the #4 spot will come down to value on specials, as I expect both players to really play well in the pre-season, and the fact that Patton is a veteran looking for significant playing time may winde him up else where but we will see. I think you're so off the mark that it's as if you root for a different team and you just follow the Redskins in passing. Jacobs never could have done what Patten did in the Patriots' offense, Offiss. Jacobs doesn't have the same speed. Patten put those numbers up by running fly-routes and post patterns mainly. Jacobs can't burn anybody, and he can't separate from defenders. Just check the quote, "They have DBs running 4.3, what do you want me to do?" Secondly, you do realize that Patten was hurt in week 2, right? He was banged up for the next 5 games or so, and then got put on IR. Trying to determine what kind of player he is based solely on last season is nothing short of retarded. He made a name for himself in New England by flat out BURNING people, and when you have a balky knee, it's pretty hard to burn those DBs with the 4.3 speed that Jacobs loves to complain about. And lastly, I can't believe you actually think the Skins are going to keep him. He's as good as cut, man. Anyone who thinks Jacobs has a chance at sticking around needs to pay closer attention to this team. He was a player SPURRIER drafted. Gibbs has given him chance after chance and he has been disappointing all the way. In terms of special teams, last year we had two WRs taking part in special teams: Thrash and Jacobs. This year we'll also have two: Thrash and Randle-El (returning). There's nothing saying that we'll need Jacobs playing teams so desperately. Jimoh will be one gunner, and there are plenty of other options for the other gunner spot. TheMalcolmConnection 06-28-2006, 03:04 PM Aren't you happy someone showed up for you to argue with Schneed? HAHAHA! Saunders has done some magic with totally shitty receivers, but, and it pains me to say this, people like Eddie Kennison are far more of a man than Taylor Jacobs will ever be. 724Skinsfan 06-28-2006, 03:07 PM As the undisputed Fence Riding Champion Of The Known Free World, I must put my two cents in ...hey, wait that's not a penny! (ahem) If anyone thinks that our season's success rides on us keeping either Patten or Jacobs then the NFL needs to hand over the Lombardi trophy right now. I never have been a Jacobs fan. Patten is Patten. He's fast and shows a good work ethic, but he will be our #4 option. That's it. Whoopee! Keeping Patten does not put us that much closer to the championship game and keeping Jacobs doesn't put us that much farther away. Schneed10 06-28-2006, 03:08 PM Aren't you happy someone showed up for you to argue with Schneed? HAHAHA! Saunders has done some magic with totally shitty receivers, but, and it pains me to say this, people like Eddie Kennison are far more of a man than Taylor Jacobs will ever be. Actually it is kind of nice to actually get some substantive Redskins discussion going around here again instead of just the parking lot play time. But at the same time, I can't decide who I want to punch more, Taylor Jacobs or Offiss. j/k Offiss :) TheMalcolmConnection 06-28-2006, 03:10 PM J/K as in you're saying you're kidding to offiss or just kidding as in saying there's no hard choice, you'd rather punch offiss? TheMalcolmConnection 06-28-2006, 03:10 PM About discussion though, there's no real discussion. I don't even see how there's a comparison between Patten and Jacobs. In the few games that Patten played he had more yards than Jacobs had in the rest of that season. I'd love to see some stats also on how many times they were thrown to. Schneed10 06-28-2006, 03:11 PM J/K as in you're saying you're kidding to offiss or just kidding as in saying there's no hard choice, you'd rather punch offiss? LOL I was trying to say j/k to Offiss. But now that you mention it... Schneed10 06-28-2006, 03:13 PM About discussion though, there's no real discussion. I don't even see how there's a comparison between Patten and Jacobs. Just look at what happened to Moss' numbers when Patten went out on IR. Patten commanded attention. Defenses thought Taylor Jacobs was a joke. |
