Schneed10 06-27-2006, 08:38 AM He did qualify his statements quite a bit, guys.
One element Campbell does have going for him, beyond his impressive physical skills-set, is that he was handpicked by Gibbs to, at some point down the road, stop the team's quarterback carousel. That gives him a meaningful edge over Patrick Ramsey, the last first-round quarterback taken by Washington before Campbell, in 2002. Having inherited Ramsey, the current coaches owed him no loyalty and so the staff essentially completed the systematic undermining of his confidence begun by Steve Spurrier, awarding him the starting job at the outset of last season and then benching him after the first half of the opening game. Subsequently, Ramsey was traded to the Jets for an undisclosed draft pick in March.
As for when Campbell gets there, well, it's still anyone's guess. The suspicion in Washington is that if Brunell were injured during a game, Collins, who has averaged just 3.4 pass attempts over the last eight seasons, would take over and finish the contest. If the injury sidelined Brunell for a game or two, the staff would prepare Campbell to be the starter.
That is, however, just guesswork.
Once again, it's basically just an article attempting to say something when there's nothing to say at this point. Gibbs and Saunders have not decided yet what their QB depth chart looks like, they will evaluate in the preseason. And then it could change from there throughout the season.
It's way too early to write an article like this and Lenny P knows it. But he has to write something.
FRPLG 06-27-2006, 08:46 AM Punched in the face? Why the hostility toward this man? It seems like people dehumanize Pasquarelli.
Are you kidding me? Where to start?
724Skinsfan 06-27-2006, 08:46 AM I don't know what's more pathetic: Lenny Pastabelly or me reading one of his articles in the desperate hope that he wrote something of actual substance.
amorentz 06-27-2006, 09:27 AM The main thing that bothered me was that he said Ramsey was traded for an "undisclosed" draft pick. I mean, are you kidding? Not only was it disclosed, but the draft has HAPPENED. So if you took eight seconds to do some research youd see that the Skins ended up with the Jets 6th rounder...hmmm wonder why? Jackass.
Monkeydad 06-27-2006, 10:20 AM I actually like the idea of Collins, who knows Saunders' offense the best of any of our QBs, filling in for an emergency to finish a game. Then...prep Campbell for the next start.
I don't like the tone of that article, but it IS a good idea to me.
skins4me58203 06-27-2006, 11:28 AM My opinion is that Collins is there to teach the offense. Gibbs knows he is not game worthy and he will be the number 3 qb all year. If Brunell can't go, it's Campbell's show.
jbcjr14 06-27-2006, 12:03 PM I don't need a reason to punch Lenny P. or to kick him in the balls...
JoeRedskin 06-27-2006, 01:25 PM I just received this email from Lenny:
We are not amused at the Redskins' organization and fans inability to grasp our brilliant and incisive commentary. It is just incomprehsible to us that anyone would put their faith in this organization, its players, its coach or its owner. Time and again, this organization has demonstrated that it does not recognize, and refuses to develop, brilliance by its failure to cater to our needs. Specifically, rather than provide us with the foodstuffs necessary for our comfort when attending a game played by this team, the organization, instead, chose to donate such foods to the hungry masses of Thailand, China, and other nations (Although the donations from the last game we attended nearly ended the hunger problem in those nations, they did, unforgivably, cause us discomfort).
Furthermore, the fans of this organization confound us with their constant demands for our opinions to be researched and based on fact. What they fail to realize is that, once we have stated an opinion, any facts implicit or necessary to that opinion are true. Consistently, these fans fail to recognize that we are above the requirements demanded of lesser journalists and that we have neither the time nor the inclination to research any facts. To do so would only delay our pronouncements with no noticeable gain to our adoring public and without providing any discernable improvement to our final analysis.
Despite last year's playoff fluke, we remain unconvinced that Joe Gibbs has the ability to lead this team to anything beyond a mediocre performance. Our opinion in this matter is not subject to debate.
Finally, for those Redskins supporters who believe we harbor animosity towards the team and can only give back handed compliments, you are correct. We do not like you, we do not like your coach, and we do not like your owner. We hope you fail so that we may gleefully and smugly point out that we knew you would fail. If your team is successful despite our incisive analysis and (oh so cleverly) hidden desire for your failure, do not expect an apology from us. We shall simply ignore you until you inevitably fail. Then we shall be the first to remind that we knew you would fail.
Brilliantly yours - Lenny.
I don't think that one's gonna be in the "Tip Sheet"

Honestly, it's not hard to believe Lenny P. would write something that stupid and inflamatory.
