Well, Winslow already stated we will pay for not picking him. Whatever. Lavar is going to be at Weakside LB, Right? As a D coordinator, how do you play this guy. I know he hasn't done anything in the NFL yet, but we all know the last couple years against big TE (Shockey), we give up some big plays. Although not a divison rival, I would hate to see this jackass have his day. How do you play against this guy. SkinsNCane, obviously looking for some feed back from you.

With Sean Taylor, maybe they could just play him man-up with Winslow, with some linebacker help, perhaps?

I don't know, he is a soldier after all... However we play him, I think it's safe to say we might be doing a little headhunting against Cleveland...

I believe that in a cover 1 defense, one of the safeties will be assigned to cover Winslow - in which case I'm sure it will be Taylor, who apparently can cover like a cornerback.

If we go to a cover 2, Winslow will probably be running routes in the flat - where he'll be in the cornerback's zone, or in the middle of the field - where he'll be in the strongside linebacker's zone. In this case, the goal would probably be to keep him in front of the defense, and then hit the crap out of him when he catches the ball.

Greg Williams is an aggressive coordinator though. I'm sure they'll find a way to blitz on the strongside to the point that the Browns will start thinking about keeping him in a bit more than usual.

It depends how they line up. If they flank him as a receiver then you need to put Taylor on him, he'll out run a linebacker and push over a corner. Taylor can cover like a corner but hes also a big guy. If he lines up as a TE then see if its a run or pass play by having a LB watching him first, then Taylor keeping an eye out for him. Id give him the underneath pass with a LB on him. Winslows problem is he has been known to fumble, and he hasnt had anyone like Lavar hit him yet so we'll see what happens.

Let LaVar and Taylor shadow him all day, I'm not even worried about him at all. Drift makes a good point, blitz his side and make them keep him in to block.

If Lavar plays the weakside LB, then it will be Washington covering him.
Who cares how well WWII does as long as we win the game. That will diminish his play, regardless of how good or bad it will be. If he starts running his mouth about his great play afer the game, all you do is point to the scoreboard.
We should not get overloaded to his position. Otherwise we will give up a big play to someone else. We need to play a regular balanced D. Put a LB on him with safety help over the top. But that safety should not be commited to just helping out on WWII.

Nickel defense - We could always take Barrow out, and put one of the defensive backs in to cover Winslow in a cover 1 scheme.

How athletic is Marcus Washington? I understand he's supposed to be a fast guy... With our talent on defense (aside from the d-line), I don't think we should have to bring in a different set to defend against Soldierboy.
