oh yeah, so no one gets the wrong idea, I do like montgomery, I only listed two DTs on my 2nd day wants list, and we took both of them (as well as doughty who i REALLY wanted).
that article on montgomery has good info, but its a terrible comparision because it left so many players out and included such tiny data sets for those that remained.
1 Bunkley, Brodrick 1 (Round 1)
2 Ngata, *Haloti 1 (Round 1)
3 McCargo, *John 1-2 (Round 1)
4 Wroten, Claude 2 (Round 3)
5 Watson, Gabe 2 (Round 4)
6 Stanley, Montavious 2-3 (Round 6)
7 Harris, Orien 2-3 (Round 4)
8 Oshinowo, Babatunde 2-3 (Round 6)
9 Wright, Rodrique 3 (Round 7)
23 DTs were drafted, most fell, as shown above.

Interesting article on Montgomery (http://www.nfldraftalmanac.com/index.php?c=2&a=634)
Wow, that was quite an article...makes me really excited to have him as a Redskin. Especially because I think if even part of his problem was attitude or effort our top-flight coaching staff is going to cure him of that real quick!

That's why I reserve my judgment on a player until AFTER I have watched them play. That is the only way you can measure a player's "technical proficiency", borrowing the words that the writer of this article used.

the article basically says he's worse than the top guys and better than wright (who went two rounds later) and watson (who went one round earlier). The writer makes it seem like he was at the wrong end of some huge scouting injustice, but he ended up going right around where this guy projects him anyways (relative-talent wise).
If he had compared him to mccargo or harris or wroten instead he could have actually proved his point, but he may have already known what the answer would be had he done so :P as is the article is bit biased in slant (but it is an opinion piece, afterall... I just wish it used better data so it'd be more objective and harder to argue).

This makes me happy too, especially since Williams seems to really like him. Seems like he should be a smart special teamer at first, and those are good to have since we should be kicking off every 5minutes or so after our offense repeatedly torches the opposing D.

I'm a fan. hopefully he can play.

I do think that one day he will be our no. 1 DT. But with a team as good as the 06 Skins, the only thing that matters in the short term is the impact he can make on this team this year. Can he help us win now?
Apparently, 31 teams do not think so, or he would have been gone before the 5th round.
The collective has been wrong before.

This is actually kind of awesome. We have signed 5 of our draft picks and ONLY 20 have signed in the entire league.

6. Signing the draft choices
Fewer than 20 draft choices have signed and the only first-day pick under contract is Mario Williams of the Texans. With minimum salaries for rookies going up $40,000, the slots for signing the draft choices are tight in the rookie pool. That's why some lower draft choices are signing for only 1 or 2 percent increases. It's going to be tight to get the first-rounders done in time. Bush isn't making things easy, either. He wants No. 1 money, even though he was the No. 2 pick. The Saints are willing to be creative, but they aren't paying him No. 1 money. A holdout could be looming.

So only Rocky Mac has yet to sign?
