who will start at Guard then? Molinaro>?
Randy Thomasheybigstar 06-08-2006, 02:07 PM who will start at Guard then? Molinaro>? TrustinGibbs 06-08-2006, 02:19 PM I trust Gibbs to do what is best on a safe side of the ledger because that is his history. He knows he'll need Thomas down the road and he'll do everything in his power to assure he wont come back too soon. This could be a blessing because someone will get extended time with the starters at G through the Preseason and maybe the beginning of the regular season as well. Bugal and Gibbs will figure out who is best suited and fast track him which could be a great thing later in the year when injuries tend to mount. This should help our depth provided Thomas comes back at full speed even if it isn't until the 2nd half of the season. Someone else should come out of this preseason much more ready to play in real games. Could be BIG later on. Schneed10 06-08-2006, 02:21 PM I think some people in this thread have taken away the wrong message from the article. A snippet: "He knows such injuries often take a year to fully heal, but Thomas already is going through every drill in the organized team activities. He also plans to full participate in mini-camp." He's fine. mheisig 06-08-2006, 02:56 PM The only thing we can do is bring him along slowly, and have some depth ready to go behind him if need be. And keeping your fingers crossed doesn't hurt either. It does if you have arthritis. MTK 06-08-2006, 03:04 PM I think some people in this thread have taken away the wrong message from the article. Yeah I'm still trying to figure out how this turned into him not playing until midseason and who's going to start now at guard. mheisig 06-08-2006, 03:06 PM No offense taken, but they can't make bone regenerate any faster in his body than in anyone else's. Also, with him weighing a couple hundred more than me, the weight-bearing will need to be taken more carefully early on. I'd LOVE to see him back earlier than I said, but I don't want him to risk injury to come back sooner. You could be right about him being ready to go early in the season, but I don't think he'll be playing at all in the preseason. Actually, they probably can. Many athletes have regular access to or have purchased their own hyperbaric chambers, which have been proven to regenerate bone faster than normal, in addition to a number of other healing capabilities. Terrell Owens had a severe ankle sprain and fractured fibula on December 19th, 2004 and then had something like 9 catches for 122 yards in the Super Bowl on February 4th, 2005, roughly six weeks later. The doctors, and everyone else for that matter said it was basically impossible to recover from that injury that fast. I saw an interview with TO later where he basically gave the credit to his recovery to the hyperbaric chamber that he basically lived in for 6 weeks before the Super Bowl. So, from a certain standpoint, wealthy athletes, or at least people who have access to hyperbaric chambers, CAN regenerate bone faster. That Guy 06-08-2006, 03:55 PM if your rich, you can heal a bit faster... various forms of medicinal steriods, hyperbaric chambers, better surgeons and better work product/grafts/etc. and even when he can't bear weight on the injury, he CAN do leg etc exercises on the muscles near the injury with various weight machines (and he and the skins have enough cash to have custom ones built as needed). I think it'd be foolish to play him in the preseason. heybigstar 06-08-2006, 04:47 PM Why not give Molinaro the majority of Thomas's snaps with the first team.. we know once Thomas is healthy he will perform fine, and Molinaro can play G or T, if a starter goes down it will help him.
