My laptop runs out of battery superfast, and this just started happening recently. After i take it out of the charger its at full, but within minutes it jumps down to 50% and decreases really quickly. Any ideas? Also my CD drive is messed up, whenever i put anything in the drive it makes a scanning noise, and the busy light is on, and it will not always read CD. when you open my computer, it takes really long to load, when a cd is in the drive, it makes alot of noise as well. This is a year old laptop...wtf...

battery and cd drive might need to be replaced... make sure you've got power saving and whatnot enabled.

I second that. If you have an older computer, the batteries will run out much quicker. I will say though that if the batteries are running out that quick on a year old laptop, I'd question how good the battery is. If the "model" of the computer is older, they may have given you a battery they had sitting around. Batteries drain over time even if they aren't being used. You most likely still have a warranty, so I'd call and raise some hell and get it taken care of.

Could just be a defective battery. I worked at a place that supported IBM T-series notebooks and every now and then we'd get someone who just had a bum battery - the battery life would just quickly deteriorate and not hold a charge.

one more thing to check is whether you are using a wireless network card or not, because that'll help in the cause of draining the battery if not on AC power.
the cd drive may be zapping the life out of the battery as well...
these guys know what they're talking about, definitely try replacing the battery first before anything else.

So exactly how much time do you get out of your battery?

This is a great price for the 9 cell battery.

the problem with batteries is that even though what's inside is exactly the same, every laptop model has a slightly different arrangement of plastic, so they can gouge the $%^& out of anyone needing a new one.
