Actually CNN ranks 83 redskins offense fourth best in the last 25 years, NOT best of all time.

"Joe Gibbs had already won a Super Bowl, but it was in '83 when he established himself as an offensive genius. The Skins scored 541 points, the second-highest total ever, and finished 14-2. Washington had an unstoppable power game with John Riggins and Joe Washington running behind one of the greatest offensive lines of all time. And the Redskins were dangerous in the air, with QB Joe Theismann throwing to Charlie Brown and Art Monk."

Where is the '91 team? I would have taken the '91 team over the '83 team.

No 91 team is a complete joke!

Is that so? Well, that really explains it.

I loved that 1991 team. In 2 games that season against NFC divisional playoff opponent Atlanta the Redskins outscored the Falcons 80-24.
In 2 games that season against NFC championship opponent Detroit the redskins outscored the Lions 86-10. In 3 playoff games they scored 102 points. The O-line allowed 9 sacks all season long. Three playoff blowouts! Buffalo scored two late touchdowns to make that Super Bowl score somewhat respectable. Some of those teams in the top ten did not dominate the playoff competition anything like that 1991 Redskin team did. That offense was a Steamroller! IMO

The '83 team scored a NFL record 541 points, a record that stood until 1998. If that team had won it all I think we're talking about one of the all-time great teams.

The '91 team scored 485 points in comparison.

The '91 team kicked major ace but I'm guessing the writers are trying to please as many different team's fans as possible.

Plus the '83 team had some ridiculous turnover ratio of +48 or something like that (though for the purposes of this poll it's only about the offense). And they lost two games by a combined 2 points.

I think you can argue that the '91 team overall was better because they won the whole thing, but that '83 offense was ridiculous.
