Grasping the new Offense

From the June 9th issue of Sporting News, "Redskins WR's Santana Moss, Antwaan Randle El, and Brandon Lloyd are grasping the new offense quickly. All three have been showing explosiveness off the line, getting open deep and making plays..."

I am hoping that there is a lot of truth to this and it is not just a page filler...

On a side note I quit posting the "Unit Analysis" from Sporting News. They seem to try to say what fans want to hear as opposed from the truth on each team. For example, this issue they analized the saftey position, and they gave a B to the Dolphins(Jason Allen) and a B- to the Raiders(Michael Huff) who both have rookie safeties. Meanwhile they rated teams that have proven safeties, like Baltimore(Ed Reed) a C, Bears(Mike Brown) C+, and Carolina(Mike Minter) C+. IMO, those three teams should be rated higher just because they have the players that are established in this league where the Dolphins and Raiders may have players that have a boatload of talent, but there players have not even played a down in the NFL yet and are unknowns as to how good they truely are.

By the way incase you are wondering they gave the Redskins an A for our safeties, and last week they gave our LB's a B.

With our offseason additions of new weaponry, other teams, defensive units, will realize how good they had it LAST YEAR

Honestly, the Sporting News writer probably read the Washington Post and didn't see much and made up some crazy shit. It literally is worthless to read what they wrote about our receivers. I could be a writer for the Sporting News:

"Portis has been looking good in camp and is showing an increased comfort level running behind his offensive line. Brunell has also been looking good in camp. His passes are coming out crisp and he is developing a comfort-level with his two new receivers."

From the sound of things, the "new" offense isn't drastically different, just more of an expansion of what we did last year, the big difference is probably in the verbiage.

But ARE and Llyod weren't in our offense last year, so it's good that they're grasping it quickly. That was my obvious point of the day.

F*$k the Sporting News rankings, it's all about produciton and yeah, rookies haven't proven anything until they do it in the NFL. For every Jonathan Vilma, there's a Courtney Brown....they do put a positive spin on every team because that is what the team sections are for. I do think that these guys will catch on quickly because Saunders works 12-15 hours a day and they are all in redskin park working on this. Lloyd especially has gotten a bad rep, considering his love on the game. Santana is real smart and faster than lightning. Randel El is also really quick, having been a QB at IU and with diverse knowlege of special teams and trick plays as well. Poor David Patten will probably be a roster cut but I'd rather see Jacobs get heaved. Either way, I love the Sporting News and do believe that our offense will be really good, mainly because of the new WRs and Saunders....
