Cowsette released by Bucs

DT Del Cowsette was released by Tampa Bay today. I think he was a good back up at DT while he was here. Does anyone think that we may try to get him back to add some more depth and competition at DT especially if Noble is questionable coming back from that injury. I think he would be a nice pick up and we could get him real cheap. Any thoughts???

Sorry, I am not so for it. This is twice now this offseason that he has been released. There must be something that these teams do not want him. I was never very impressed with his play when he was here. He wasn't bad, but he was not good either. We need to stop collecting average to below average d-lineman. Our Redskins need to go in a diffrent direction with our D-lineman aquisitions. I don't care if it takes time or what it takes, but we need to start to draft and aquire d-lineman that will become great. We need to stop filling up our salary cap with d-lineman we later hate and cut. Then take a cap hit.
Last years pickups of Lionel Dalton and co. were stop gaps. They were a calculated gamble that did not work.
Let's start to draft d-lineman we like and give them time to develop.

You bring up a good point. I suppose then that I would go after him if only there were assurances it would be financially feasible.

Cowsette's career aspires to mediocrity; he's not there yet.

He's the guy you pick up in week 11 when your second DT goes on IR and can't play for the rest of the year. If you sign him and expect him to be a part of all 16 games for you as a "contributor", then you are probably looking at a top ten draft pick next year.
