ArtMonkDrillz 05-24-2006, 11:45 AM I think it will come down to him or Patten as the possible odd man out at WR.
I'd be sort of shocked if Patten got cut over Taylor. I thought Patten had a good season last year until he got hurt. Plus, I'd have to think that Gibbs probably still like the fact that Patten comes from a winning program.
warriorzpath 05-24-2006, 11:49 AM I guess a lot of it depends on how many WRs make the final roster, but you have to think Moss, Lloyd, El, Patten and Thrash are locks, maybe in that order, so that is 5. Will we keep 6 WRs?
The number of wrs the redskins keep will probably depend on the players at other positions that they are sold on or think may have potential. I have a feeling that right now roster spots on the team are at a premium.
It will be interesting to see if the redskins give him a chance to show what he can do in preseason because from what I read he seems to have great work habits but has trouble translating on game day. He either doesn't have confidence or a positive attitude when game time comes. As a side note, he did have 3 catches (19 yards) in the Seattle playoff loss.
Since we usually have this conversaton around June, I'm betting he stays on board.
I mean, we cut Taylor and Ade every year don't we??
Ade was very raw coming out of college. He's gotten better every year he's been in the league.
Taylor jacobs has not improved one aspect of his game. Unfortunately, i think they cut patten when he starts to whine about being 4th on the depth chart. But thats just my opinion.
paulskinsfan 05-24-2006, 12:04 PM The only reason to keep Jacobs around is so I can keep calling him Fraygeelayyyyyyyy!
BigSKINBauer 05-24-2006, 12:07 PM The Ade has finally earned a nice spot on this team. TJ, not so much.

I don't really think anyone understood (myself included) how important Patten was to this team last year, until Patten was on the sidelines. He really did a good job taking guys out of the plays and opening it up for Santana Moss. I gave the guy a ton of heat when he was in there, but as soon as he left the feild with the injury, it was painfully obvious that our passing game wasent what it was when he was in there.

I know it's still early, but where do you currently see him on the depth chart ?
skins268 05-24-2006, 12:19 PM Cut him Now.....Biggest Steve Spurrier Bust of the Century,Waste of Draft Pick. All he is doing for us is taking up a Roster spot.
scowan 05-24-2006, 12:32 PM Patten will not get cut ahead of Tayor Jacobs. No way, no how. I also don't think Patten will cause a stink in the locker room, like some of you are predicting. He is a classy guy and knows with Lloyd and El coming on board that he needs to earn his spot. He will be the 3rd or 4th receiver this year and get some playing time in certain situations. I would like to see Lloyd step up and become the number 2 and let El be the number 3. Also, don't forget that we will have injuries at WR this year. I know it will happen. The Skins will need depth, talent and experience at the position and they will have it everywhere, except with Jacobs. He will be gone.

I agree. We're talking about depth here, and a veteran (like Patten) is a more valuable bench player than someone yet to prove themselves (i.e.: Jacobs). The only question is money...as usual.
