Dikembe Mutombo-I think he funded an entire African Olympic team, or something like that. And built a multi-million dollar hospital

Gilbert Arenas-Works his ass off on a daily basis to consistently be one of the top players in the NBA and has fun doing it

Danny Wuerffel, Dana Stubblefield-did nothing of significance on the field. But I found them both to be very friendly and approachable

Ken Griffey Jr.-Wish he hadn't gotten hurt so much the past few years though

How does this make him a A+ worthy athlete? Not to take anything away from him.

Because I say so!....seriously though. Griffey, from everything I've seen and heard about him, is a great clubhouse presence, gets along great with the media, and-before his rash of injuries-was easily regarded as one of the best, if not the best, player in baseball.

I don't want to get into the steroids debate here but Griffey could have easily taken the supplements when a lot of his colleagues were, knowing that he wouldn't get caught because there were no rules in place to stop him. But he chose not to. It probably cost him several records and maybe millions (though he's getting paid quite well)

A++++ for the fact that Gil is bascially raising a little kid from DC who's entire family was killed in a house fire a couple of years ago. Arenas said he refuses to flat out give the kid anything (but he is going to pay for all of his education, including college when the kid is ready) but he got him a ball boy job with the team and he's bascially acting like a foster dad for him. He really just seems like an awesome, down to earth guy. I think I'm developing an hetero-man-crush on him; I'll be quiet now.

I think that picture just gave the old guy in my office a heart attack, but at least he had a smile on his face.

Who's jersey is that? Springs? (I just wanted to post it again)

Can't let it go to waste.

The sad thing is everyone agreed that she was the hottest. This is not a post-event effect or anything. THis was before teh season http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=6938&highlight=christy. Most of us were picking christy. Can't blame Cooley though, he is still going out with her. He did get that franky girl kicked off and she was going to be in maxim too. Cooley= playa pimp.

Other A+ guys:

Albert Pujols - will one day rescue baseball from steroids, as he'll blow by Hank Aaron without the help of steroids.

Just to play devil's advocate. How do you know he's not on roids?

This is the problem with baseball right now, and the technology of the drugs in general. I'll start by saying i'm a big (not like redskins level) but a solid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and Pujols is my favorite player to watch. He has gone on record as saying "Baseball can test me every single day if they want too". Now I belive Pujols when he makes that statement and I do think he is doing this naturally. But with the technology that we have today in medication, its very possible that someone has come up with a performance enhancing drug that is undetectable right now. As much as people think we are going to "get out" of the steroids era, I really dont think we can. Theres just too much technology and as long as someone can come up with an undetectable drug there will be people to take it. Again, thats not at Pujols, as I think he's clean. But as for the sport in general, I think its going to take more than what they have already established to rid the sport of steroids.

pujols came up in the minors where testing was much more strict as well... and he never ballooned like bonds did from one year to the next.

Because I have absolutely positively no reason to believe that he is. I guess nobody knows for sure, in the truest sense of the word. But I'm all about innocent until I hear something that convinces me otherwise.

Just to clarify. I don't believe he is. I was just getting at how it's so hard to know who to trust these days in the sport. Never did I think Palmeiro was using and then that he would blame it on a teammate.
