generally all these guys sign 2 year deals with the team (no gauranteed money) and try their best to make the roster. That way if someone comes out of nowhere (like havner might) the team has some protection for taking a chance on the player and time to extend or work a new deal. Otherwise UDFA's would be a bit pointless, since they'd just leave for money the second they showed they could play, reducing any incentive to bother with them.Thanks for clearing that up for me it was something I had wonder about but never asked.
