By the way, someone please explain to me how you use the #1 pick on a Defensive End who had 11 sacks in 2 years?
cause they drafted him on potential and his freakish altheticism instead of his production. I'm not saying that's right or wrong.

With all due respect (and I'm not sure if thats your view or the right answer, I know its at least the latter) I'll take a football player over a gym rat anyday.

I heard this on the Dan Patrick show... the last team to win a Super Bowl with a running back that was drafted #1 ????
The Washington Redskins, George Rogers.
And we didn't even draft him, the Saints did....just like the Saints drafted Reggie Bush, hmmm. Ok, I'm calling it right now 2010 Reggie Bush signs with the Redskins (of course, he'll have to get here somehow through the Jets or we ain't takin him)

LOL. Nice. I gotta say though I feel a little guilty. I mean we're creeping with our ex-gf (The Jets) and cheating on our current gf (The Broncos). But we've been with them since 2003 and we have all these feelings that just won't go away and draft picks that keep disappearing.

LMAO. Man thats cold. So to sum up, Denver is Carmela, New York is our guma, and Dallas likes to show up at the construction site early.

I don't agree with taking Super Mario, if it is based on JUST potential and altheticism. In my eyes, if you are drafting at #1, the player should have (in this order): proven skills/success, work ethic, production, athleticism, and potential.
I don't think you have a true #1 overall pick unless you have all of the above.

Picking a player based on his super athletic ability doesn't guarantee you a championship, just ask the Atlanta Falcons (MV) or San Diego Chargers (LT). Houston needs defensive help, they have to address those needs. I doubt picking Mario Williams will vault their defense to the top 10, probably not even the top 20 but they are in a division full of non-scrambling, pocket passing QBs. It's a fairly reasonable strategy.

OK I agree Mario may turn out to be a great fit to Texans if he doesn't turn out to be a bust there are many games againts bad teams he didn't do squad. But for the pure economics and return of investment Bush was the right choice. Right now NO season tickes are going out fast and then you have jersey tshirt etc... coem on Texas would have recover the 6 maybe 7 million they had to over pay Bush in a month.
And NO made the right move not only for the bussines aspect but because Deuce just came back from major surgery they don't know if he will be 100%.
And for the 1 that said taht moves like this is why Great players like Witten fall to the second he fell to the Third round and we love that pick.
for me the more stupid moves came from the Bills they not only reached once (Whitner, Donte) but twice (McCargo, John) with players that should had gone so high. but I thank them because that let us pick Carpenter
And NO tried to fiend suitable trade partner before selecting bush but they say none offered anything worth the value.

D'BOYZ, I dont see Bush as so much a money issue as a salary cap issue. From what I know about the Texans owner, hes far from cheap, but hey, there's a salary cap. I'd rather have Williams and another good player than just Reggie Bush.
