JWsleep 04-29-2006, 08:07 PM According to Gibbs, McIntosh was really the guy. They were worried about a run on LBs, not about getting D'Q. They didn't believe McIntosh would be there at 53 (probably correct), and he's was their first target. (Check out the press conference on shttp://www.redskins.com)
Darrell_Green_28 04-29-2006, 08:11 PM Come on guys.. have faith in Coach Gibbs im sure he knows what hes doing...
JWsleep 04-29-2006, 08:14 PM What another dumb move by my team, when will the redskins ever respect the draft. trading a second rounder and a 6th to move up 16 spots. Can i say stupid. Thats the reason we will win nothing. Trading our number 1 this year for campbell, and the other picks involved in that trade when we could have got him later. Now trading all the picks for this guy,he might be good but come on. I might crap my pants if they ever traded down and got extra picks.
Well, if you go by the "value charts" that the NFL teams use, they got a slightly higher value for their pick, depending on how we do next year, of course. It costs WAY more to move up into the first. Moving a shorter distance to insure you get your guy makes sense. Could they have gotten him at #53? I doubt it, and the skins very much didn't think so. Could they have gotten him at, say, #40? Maybe, but that requires the team with the #40 to want to trade. You can't just decide where to trade; you need a willing partner. The jets were good to go, so we moved. The sixth rounder isn't worth much (and we had 3), so we traded our the #53 and next years second. And we got the guy we wanted.
I guess you don't think McIntosh is all that good--otherwise, you'd value the move more. I'm not a scout or a coach, so I just have to trust someone here. Why not trust Gibbs? Or do you prefer the pundits on ESPN or FOX?
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 04-29-2006, 08:23 PM not saying he not good he might be great, my problem is we disregard the draft, we just throw picks away like they dont matter. so what now we only have a first next year on the first day, you can't just build a team on fa, you have to try to draft young talent and trust your scouts. The happiest day anyone has on draft day is the redskins call and taking advantage of us. I love gibbs but dont forget he said desmond howard had no holes. We could of had carl pickens in the draft and troy vincent.
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 04-29-2006, 08:26 PM dont forget gibbs got brunnell for a 3rd and 5 round pick when he was going to be release in a couple weeks just had to wait and we would have gotten him for free.
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 04-29-2006, 08:27 PM just wasting draft picks throwing them away is my problem.
Phinehas 04-29-2006, 10:45 PM just wasting draft picks throwing them away is my problem.
<sarcasm> Yeah, you gotta hate the direction our team is headed. <\sarcasm>
Seriously, are we talking about the same team here?

CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 04-29-2006, 11:05 PM sure if you dont mind brunnell breaking down, throwing nothing but screen passes. look at the steelers have had a first round draft pick every year since 67,hmmm lets see the patriots have done real well with the draft only winning 3 super bowls, hmmmmmm the eagle going to 3 straight nfc championship games and a super bowl building through the draft. I understand you having sarcasm, since we have all these divinsion title and nfc titles and super bowls by over paying for free agents since 94starting with stanly richard, james washington, john gesek, stubblefield, wilkerson, dion sanders, mark carrier, bruce smith, jeff george, etc etc etc i see what you mean by having sarcasm. yea your right why would you want to use the draft when you can over spend for other people players. yes the draft worthless , why draft a young de or dt when you can get one around 30 year old and over pay i see your point its been working for us so well. Maybe you might see im frustrated here, since my skins have only won 2 PLAYOFF GAMES IN 14 YEARS. LET ME REPEAT ONLY 2 GAMES IN 14 YRS. If that good enough for you then its fantastic for me <sarcasm>
CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR 04-29-2006, 11:08 PM One more point if you think brunell going to make it through the whole season good luck> Because 37 year old qb always stay healty as the season goes on. Case in point last year. Look at his stats after game five see how well he did. But maybe its good enough for you its not for me i need more than 2 playoff wins in 14 years.
That Guy 04-29-2006, 11:16 PM broncos like the FA dance, they've done well in sstaying in the top 10 in offense and defense almost every year.
