So...Rush was NOT arrested. He is not being charged with anything. In exchange for the dropping of these bogus charges, they simply asked him to go through some treatment to make sure his addiction to the prescriptions is over.
This is false. He WAS arrested. Even if you turn yourself in and surrender to the authorities to be booked on charges -- regardless of the fact that the charges will be dropped in 18 months if you behave -- that is still an arrest.

I agree all laws should be applied equally no matter your race or financial situation. My point is to question the validity of all drug laws. For the record, I believe all drugs, heroine, cocaine, marijuana -- all of them -- should be perfectly legal to use, sell, and possess.
I understand the fears of those who would object to those types of drugs, but Oxycontin? Percocet? Vicotin? Why are there criminal statutes related to the abuse of these drugs?
Oxycontin is basically what heroin breaks down into... but I see where you're coming from in your first paragraph. It just shows you that what's considered legal and illegal is loosely based on health reasons- as we all know, legal pharmaceutacals are big business... legalizing certain schedule 1 substances would affect the industry somewhat- i don't know how for sure, but there are huge ramifications.

I have heard that the company that makes Marinol -- the pharmecutical form of marijuana -- has some pretty tough lobbyists whose only purpose is to see to it that the street form of the drug never becomes legal. After all, there's no better way to stay ahead of your competition than to see to it that all other forms of it are prohibited by law.
