So I was bored tonight, and I started flipping through some books I have of the Redskins. One of them is titled Washington Redskins - The Authorized History, by Thom Loverro, published in 1996.
In the back of the book, it has all the records, the names of everyone who ever coached or played for the team, and schedules from 1932 season through 1995.
Here's what caught my eye. In 1994, the Skins played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 4, at Tampa Bay, then played them again just two weeks later in Washington on Dec. 18. Can anyone ever remember playing another non-divisional NFC team twice in one year, not including the playoffs? Was there some scheduling quirk that set up two games with the Bucs in the span of three weeks? Coincidentally, that first matchup with the Bucs is notable for a Redskins team record of fewest rushing yards in a game: The Bucs held us to 10 total yards rushing. Anyway, the Skins finished 3-13 that season, losing both contests with the Bucs.
One more little trivia fact to play on your friends, -- in Dallas' championship years of 1992, '93, and '95, the Redskins went 4-2 against the Cowboys in that particular 3 season span. Next time you want to irritate a Cowboy fan, hit 'em with that one. :D
