I doubt that Springs , Rogers and Wright all go down this year , so Jimoh and Patterson will not see much action . We do need a safety who can run , and we have no depth there , and Taylor still has a trial to go through . Bring in Sharper or Polley at lb , bring back # 28 at corner and draft a pass rushing deamon ,,,, we will nickname him SON IN LAW !!!!

harper is ancient, polley sucks, we could use another safety, but cb is also still a need. nickel corners play a lot, and springs is old. not a dire or immediate need, but its still there.

Something is telling me it gets dismissed due to DJ Dirty Sanchez.

I couldn't find a link to any stats so I did my own. The file can be found here. (http://www.box.net/public/9dyr8ean2a) Make of it what you want but I found that 1'st round picks are all that great.

Notes:
1. The spreadsheet has multiple tabs and was done with excel.
2. A Pro-bowl player is only counted once even if they make the pro-bowl multiple times. My take is that an early round draftee either makes it to the pro-bowl or he doesn't.

saying that most 1st rounders are considered busts is complete hyperbole, and if you compared the number of HoF and PB players from the 1st round, vs any other rounds you'd see that the guys doing the drafts and analysis are right far more often than they're wrong.

first, "fast as hell" from your last post - he's one of the slowest DEs in day one, a rocking 4.8 @ 250 pounds... mario williams has 50lbs and 1/10 on him. LBs bigger than him (260lbs) have 2/10ths on him.

I watched the ssenior bowl and practices, he didn't abuse anyone and whitehurst was able to gain ground on him while he tried to chase whitey down from behind. he had ALL game cause MK was injured and did nothing, even though he got twice the time. I don't remember a single announcement about him abusing Db'F, though Db did have a single slip up in the game, tapp wasn't the guy at the other end.

he ended the game with 2 assisted tackles and no other stats with double minutes. that's hardly impressive.

Tapp abused D'Brickashaw in the Uva/Tech game this year, but it was a 52-17 blowout by VT, so Tapp got to tee off since uva was in passing situations for much of the game. He definitely beat him off the ball, bull rushed and speed rushed him numerous times.
Tapp isn't "fast as hell" but we must distinguish between straight away speed & quickness. Tapp is awfully quick, gets off the ball really well & has good moves. He's not quite of the talent level that gets taken in the first round, but he's a good "character" guy & we'd be lucky to get him at #53. I don't see him lasting that long. If he's around & he's higher on our board than any LBs or CBs I say take him. Not just because I'm a Hokie, Daniels & Wynn are old, and Evans is solid but doesn't have the explosiveness.
Tapp's downside is his size, no pun intended. He may be weak against the run in the nfl.

I honestly want Cromartie if we can put ourselves in the position to draft him.

I say trade down if possible , than we can draft a DL and a Db . Anybody think Allen , DB from Tenn. falls to 53 ? He is big fast , 4.39 40 , and he can play corner and safety ? If we can not trade down we should make a move to get a pick in the 3rd or 4th rd . Oh and lets see if we can get Gibbs to get all of us tickets to the cowboy's game so we can see an ass whiping live !

allen is like a mid first round pick. If we trade down, its probably OLB/4.4 CB/possibly an athletic OG...
