The Niners acquired the 22nd overall selection in the draft from the Denver Broncos on Wednesday for picks in the second round and third round.
The Broncos will receive the 37th and 68th overall picks in the deal.
The Niners own the sixth overall pick in the draft as well as No. 22 in the first round.

(A year ago today, April 19, 2005, the Broncos and Redskins made a trade that would ultimately land the Redskins Auburn QB Jason Campbell)

Hmm. I havn't checked those draft pick value charts or anything, but I think I'd rather be on the 9ers end of this deal.

The 49ers should be able to get two starters from these first round picks. They probably don't have a lot of faith in what their later picks (2nd and 3rd rounds)will bring them. The Broncos have more picks and are looking for more players I guess.

According to the pick value charts I've seen, it's a wash.

I wouldn't rule out DeAngelo Williams or Lawrence Maroney here either (their running game was terrible......Gore probably isn't the answer and they've not liked Barlow for years). In reality, though, they have so many needs that the second pick is a crapshoot. I think they have to be going TE at #6.

I think they are targeting DeAngelo Williams, but they will have to trade up ahead of the Pats. Give up a 4th or something.

Also, I doubt that they will take Vernon Davis. They have Eric Johnson, whos a bright spot on a weak team.
