Redskins | Republicans trying to get D. Green to run for the state Senate
Sun, 16 Apr 2006 08:39:39 -0700

The Washington Post reports leading Northern Virginia Republicans are urging former Washington Redskins CB Darrell Green to run for the state Senate from Loudoun County next year. Green lives in Loudoun and has been running a nonprofit foundation since he left the team three years ago. The Republicans are hoping he can use his fame on the football field to oust newly elected Democrat Mark R. Herring.

Cowboys | Team to conduct pre-draft visit with L. White
Sun, 16 Apr 2006 06:32:57 -0700

Mac Engel, of the Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys will conduct a pre-draft visit with USC RB LenDale White Tuesday, April 18. The Cowboys currently have RBs Julius Jones and Marion Barber III as the team's top two running backs, but the Cowboys have not had a 1,000-yard rusher since RB Emmitt Smith in 2001. There is some concern whether Jones has the durability to be an every-down back.

We've looked at DeMeco Ryans, D'Qwell Jackson, Antonio Cromartie, and Kelly Jennings now, all four of which are on the late 1st/early 2nd round border.

I hope his workout goes well and the injury hasn't affected him much.

or hoping beyond hope someone falls... moving up will cost us our #1 next year in all likelyhood, which doesn't make me all that happy.

Same here, but it seems like we are just trading away each year's #1 pick to move up to take a #1 anyway.

It's a good thing I don't live in Loudoun county. It would have been the first time I would have ever voted Republican.

Wow, politicians never shock me how they sink to new lows. I love DG, but damn, a politician?

What would our #53 in the second, plus next year's first give us? Would that be a worth a #11-19 pick in this year's first? Or #20-32? I read earlier on that Denver was looking to trade away thier first rounder because of cap difficulties.

Is there anyone the Redskins are that high on to make such a big move?

Oh so Denver doesn't WANT our pick now. Ironic. :)

I don't know. I remember reading that some time ago, long before the trade with Atlanta and the Jets that moved them up to the #15 spot. Now they'll probably use it.
