I agree with Tafkas . When we lost Jansen two years ago ,,, we suffered , ditto with R. Thomas last year . We could use a young DL , think how much better our pass rush would be with Carter and a 21 yr old with a ton of energy and maybe a mean streak . LB and DB's are deep this year . I 'am hoping we trade down and get an additional pick on day one ?

How are the LB's deep? Marshall is coming off an injury and the other projected starter is Clemons. What if one of them goes down?

I think he's saying the draft is deep regarding LBs and DBs

They are stacked at safety (as long as Taylor is there). CB is definitely more of a weakness because Springs has shown that you can't count on him for 16 games. Rogers has been banged up a lot too.

I still say that LB is where you have to pick. You have to plan in case Washington goes down. As it stands right now, if Washington goes down, their LB's suck.

I would say that we are fine at a lot of positions until our best guy goes down. LB, DT, TE, OT, OG, C are all positions where as long as we stay healthy, we won't have any problems. The depth is there and we have guys who can spot start, but if one of the starters at the aforementioned positions goes down (for a significant period of time, such as the rest of the year), we don't have much to rely on outside of a strong system (which is a great ally, don't get me wrong). But that's the reason that the 2nd rounder must be spent at one of those positions.

Injuries are a crapshoot, and in many cases the X factor in professional football, and you want to be as close as prepared for anything as possible.

So that's my criteria for this pick. Get a guy you would feel comfortable starting in the playoffs as a rookie at one of those positions.

I do stress over this, but undoubtably, Gibbs and co. have already realized what I just stated a long time ago, and we as fans have nothing to worry about.

If I was asked my opinion, I'd say a versatile lineman can kill 3 birds with one stone. I'm not sure any of that type of guy will be available in the draft, but a great line prospect, as TAFKAS said earlier, would go a long way to curing this problem.

My prediction at this point is still LB, because Gibbs always likes the late round lineman, and you can expect a few this year.

I completely agree with what you say on the first part, except we do not need another DT right now, we are pretty deep I believe at that position, however, we need another CB, because Springs is getting older and his injuries may become a problem late in the year, but we do need a LB, so either a CB or LB is the way to go. Hey Can we get Darrel Green out of retirement?

Kenny Wright could start every game if we needed him to, and Ade/Pierson would be a solid nickelback combo. I'm not so sure Cedric Killings could. He filled in admirably last year, but over the course of 10 games, I fear he would have become a liability. Wynn and Daniels are capible of playing inside in pass rush siutations, but not as every down players.

As long as Saleve'a and Griffin both make it through the season, we can get away with our DT situation. I believe we are prepared for most anything at CB.

As far as the future, Carlos is the future number 1. Springs and Wright are both old, but hey, that's what day 2 is for.

It will definitely be either LB, DT but not corner. We are too thin on in the LB position without Holdman being resigned yet, and at the DT position, where you always want to have alot of depth as it is just for injuries.

I do agree that Archuleta will be used like a LB in Greg's system, but expect him to do alot more coverage than he will like to do, we are not known for an 8 in the box front. Maybe that will be something that this team is going to test out in the pre-season and maybe early on.

I definately wouldn't rule out corner. Wright is a 1 year deal, springs is old, and jimoh aint great. our safety depth begins and ends with prioleau.

our DT depth has a reserve starter and a good sub right now.

I disagree i think we lack depth at safety more than corner. But, I think we will take the best available player at either safety, offensive line, corner, or linebacker.

Yep. We already have Springs, Rogers, Wright, and Jimoh at corner. Safety is a little more of a concern with only Prioleau backing up Taylor and Archuleta. Personally, I think we need a LB pretty bad consdering that beyond Washington and Marshall, we only have Clemons, Campbell, and McCune. Marshall's versatility will allow us the flexibility of either a MLB or OLB. We could use some depth at T, especially since our best options are only Wilson and Molinaro. We already have two backup interior linemen in Pucilllo and that guys from the Texans (can't remember his name). DT could be upgraded, but we already have a lot of decent players there (Griffin, Saleve'a, Killings, Boschetti, and Aki Jones). I'm banking on a LB being our next pick.

I know a lot of you know think were gonna draft a LB with our first pick in the second round, but that no gonna happen. The reason is adam archuleta. He will basically play like a linebacker for us, being close to the box. That makes are greatest need a defensive back that can cover well. We could even look for another playmaker at DT. We all saw last year how much better our D was with Grif and big joe playing. You need as many playmakers there as possible.

I agree i want us to take a DB as well
