I don't read to much into this stuff. These writers (as we all know) will try and make something a big deal when in fact it is not. I believe TO has always worked with his owen trainer so this is realy nothing new. I do not like TO but he is always in shape and ready to play. Its been his mouth that has caused all the problems not his conditioning and wort ethics.
I agree, this isn't any big deal, they just have to cover it because 1) we'll read it, 2) there's little else goin on, & 3) it could be the start of TO's antics, which we know can lead to bigger things
NOw, if he's at odds w/the tuna come training camp, that could be the start of something.

they only come up when he's doing something wrong, which mean TO thread, while milddly irritating, should make us happy due to the gauranteed wrongdoings committed against a hated rival that such threads would entail.

Nothing that anyone is concerned about. Owens' mouth has forever tatoo'd a target on is head with the media, if a writer wants his article read, all he has to do is write about T.O..
But that not withstanding, there are more than a few players that do not participate in the Cowboys off-season program and prefer to conduct their own off-season training regimine. Drew Bledsoe is also one of those who does not participate in the off-season program. It is only when a player is obviuosly out of shape that Parcells gets "irked" about it. Point-in-fact was Larry Allen. He had a terrible time keeping in shape in the off-season and he and Parcells were always at odds about Allens commitment to the off-season program.
Much like Sean Taylor last season, was partcipating in his own off-season program in Miami when he had that unfortunate incident involving his ATV's. As argument can be made that if he was at the Redskins facility participating in the off-season program, he would not be in the mess he is in now.
Jeremy Shockey is another guy that goes to Miami for the off-season and does not participate in the Giants off-season program.
These off-season programs are VOLUNTARY, and participation is not required. And you do not see sports writers writing about Taylor last season when he went to Miami for the off-season, or Shockey when he goes to Miami or Bledsoe because he does not participate in the Cowboys structured off-season regime.
Soley because Owens tatto'd that target on his head is the reason you read articles like this. That and it is an article that will be read by a lot of people.
And it would be hard to argue that Owens is not in shape or does not take care of himself.

Actually we did see sports writers writing about Taylor, but that's neither here nor there and I do expect TO to come in great shape to camp.
