Brett Favre Decision

I more hate the medias handling of it and that makes it overflow to Favre. If I have to here MAdden say "He's just having fun out there, or He's like a kid in a candy store." one more time I will throw a beer through the TV. I've always hated Favre because of the media, they love him so much even a stupid play gets passed off. Namely one, where knowing he was over the line he threw a forward pass for a penalty instead of runnign and sliding for a gain. The media just laughed meanwhile Longwell went on to miss the field goal. It's been that way as long as I've watched Favre and while it's not his fault, I don't dislike him I detest the ora that is Brett Favre

Amen. He's the media's Golden Boy who can do no wrong. If any other QB made the same inept follies as Fav-rey has gotten away with over the past few years, they'd argue for criminal prosecution. But not Fav-rey. After all, he nearly got sucked into a tornado a few years ago ...

Fair enough you don't like the guy, but what about your false statements about him being responsible for the team's failures the past few years. As I pointed out last year is the only losing season the Packers have had under him. They've been a perennial playoff team for over a decade now. At least give him some respect for what he's done on the field.

But seriously, I'm not surprised at all by the bashing of Favre on this board. To me it just seems like bitterness, since Washington hasn't had a quarterback that anyone cared about his retirement since Joe Thiessman.

He's called his own players out in the past for holding out. And now does the same thing 2 years in a row. I must say I'm sick of hearing about it. But I think Farve needs to take a long look in the mirror and see how He looks to the rest of us.

Fair enough Matty, as far as his whole career goes. You have to give him credit, he’s been great at times, or should I say was great.
But as for the past few years, he has really played recklessly & I believe the team has been bailed out by the running game, driver & walker, and a decent defense. If he did say “what are they going to do, cut me?” then he does deserve some criticism. He’s the qp, not the GM & he’s taking advantage of his status IMO. I don’t begrudge him too much for it though, he’s facing a major change in his life. But I do think its fair to say that he’s not acting in the team’s best interests right now & that as a player he’s nowhere near his mvp years. Bottom line for Green Bay is that this team lacks a lot & Farve coming back is unlikely to get them to the playoffs no matter who they sign.

That's funny...when did Favre miss camp? When did Javon Walker miss camp, for that matter? Walker said he showed up out of respect for Brett Favre and the team. I remember hearing an interview on NFL Radio where they basically tried to bait Walker into saying that Favre should mind his own business. Walker just said that when a guy like that says he wants you in camp, you know you're an important part of the team and he hoped the organization would listen to Brett. So, basically, he got Javon into camp.

Fine, if it makes you happy, I'll retract my statement about his poor play as a factor for "the past few seasons". Yes, he's put up a hell of a lot of stats and more than likely gets into the HOF. But let's not lose ourselves in orgasmic convulsions about the notion that somehow he single-handedly carried the Packers to winning records since '93. There are other guys on those Green Bay teams who dominated the game at the time, along with a superb collection of coaches that put it all together. No, I don't take anything away from his accomplishments, but by the same token, I don't think we can dismiss his 67 interceptions over the past three seasons at some pretty inopportune times that no one seems to care about.

I won't however, allow his current demonstrations of being a whiney little bitch take away from my overall dislike for the man. Not to mention this long held love affair the media has for their Golden Boy.
