He got a huge free pass by the NFL and media on the pain killer thing. If he was not white he would have gotten killed by the media.

He has had a stretch of tragedy thats awful but he is being selfish with the decision. Let go already, you and you're team have slipped. You are rich, accomplished and have a family. Do the right thing and don't go out like a prize fighter...all punchy and disabled. Be with your family, friends and let your team rebuild.

Dude, pulling the racial card is just ridiculous. People still cheer for guys like Dexter Manley to stay clean. Why? Because he was a stud on the field and he was generally a good guy. Koren Robinson? He's being admired for his determination and the way he has turned around his life and pushed out his addiction. Brett Favre has EARNED his admiration. Of course people are aware of his issues, but like Dexter and Koren, it is a personal problem that people hope he can overcome. In general, I think the media respect addiction problems and don't beat guys up too badly over it unless it gets/can get others hurt (e.g. DUI, gun involvement).

While I don't agree with painmaker's assessment that this is a black or white issue, I think you're confusing him with ST21. This is the first time, that I can recall, that painmaker has mentioned race as an issue on any subject.

I think that you all are blinded by the bonus he gets if he hangs onto his indecision a little while longer.

People say the Favre career cant be tarnished, but over the past year or so I have been shocked by just how selfish this guy has been. Yes he did play after several tragic deaths in his family, props for that. But first the comments about not wanting to mentor Arron Rogers, now this whole retire/dont retire BS. He needs to man up and think of the team and the fans at some point. Go out with a little dignity man

You must have confused me with someone else. I really do feel though he got a huge free pass on that thing.

Totally! Great Post. Brett is taking me from huge fan to view him as rather T.O.ish with all the drama. What next, on the Red carpet with Joan and Melissa????????
