Brett Favre DecisionBigSKINBauer 04-08-2006, 05:17 PM well i want him to come back~ he was my favorite player when I was younger and lived in ohio. skin4Life28 04-08-2006, 05:29 PM I could care less if he comes back. The NFl does not need Favre as much as he needs the NFL. He is just having trouble understanding that. Just walk away dude. The Pack is gonna be bad again this year. Why waste a year and get hurt? It's pointless. Bushead 04-08-2006, 05:39 PM I want to ask one thing: How is it when Brett Farve becomes addicted to Pain Killers, everyone views it as a tradgedy and horrible, but when,Let's say Randy Moss, has a little Mary Jane, every wants to call him a thug? jdlea 04-08-2006, 06:13 PM I want to ask one thing: How is it when Brett Farve becomes addicted to Pain Killers, everyone views it as a tradgedy and horrible, but when,Let's say Randy Moss, has a little Mary Jane, every wants to call him a thug? I don't really judge a whole lot of players for things like that. That said, you probably weren't referring to me. However, as far as tragedy, he's had a lot more go wrong for him than just an addiction to painkillers, which I'm sure you know. saden1 04-08-2006, 06:21 PM I don't really judge a whole lot of players for things like that. Tragedy is part of life. My grandfather died a couple of months ago. I miss him but life goes on. There is nothing especial about Favre's circumstances besides him having 10 million more in his bank account if he decides to stay. Personally, I hate indecisiveness...make a decision already! Sociofan 04-08-2006, 06:28 PM I want to ask one thing: How is it when Brett Farve becomes addicted to Pain Killers, everyone views it as a tradgedy and horrible, but when,Let's say Randy Moss, has a little Mary Jane, every wants to call him a thug? I think of Randy Moss as a thug because he tried running over a police officer with his car; because he threw a full water bottle at an official; because Notre Dame had to pull his scholarship when he got involved in a racially-motivated fight in high school; because he never fails to find a way to embarrass himself and his team. I don't give a crap about his nugs, but the guy does need to grow up. jdlea 04-08-2006, 06:34 PM Well, if it's so annoying to everyone, don't pay attention to it. I'm not saying that tragedy makes it okay for him to take this long. I think the fact that he's one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time gives him the right to take so long making this decision. They weren't going to get a QB in free agency, they have Aaron Rogers. And if you think that I'm wrong, you're lying to yourself. This team won't even address obvious needs. I don't think that Favre thinks the NFL needs him in any way. I would agree that it's not good for his team to take this long making the decision, but he doesn't tell people to ask John Clayton and Mort to see what his decision will be. It's the intrigue of everyone else that's causing this. I'm sure it's frustrating to the Packers organization and Packer fans, but the fact is, he's one of the best to ever play the game, so people give him a pass. I don't begrudge him in the least for wanting to make sure that he makes a decision he won't regret. While I'm sure people will tear this apart cause you don't like Salisbury, Sean Salisbury was talking about what it was like to decide to retire. He said, "You're damn right you miss it. You'll never 100% sure you made the right decision. That's just something you have to deal with, I understand why it's taking him so long and I wish I had evaluated this heavily." At least it was something very close to that, back around the time of the Super Bowl. That comes from a guy who was holding a clipboard about 90% of the time. It's not an easy decision to make and the Packers aren't making it any easier. jdlea 04-08-2006, 06:35 PM Tragedy is part of life. My grandfather died a couple of months ago. Cause I know for one, that I damn sure would not have, but Favre went out and had an amazing game. saden1 04-08-2006, 07:25 PM And, I just wanted to ask you, would you have showed up for work like 2 days after your father died? Cause I know for one, that I damn sure would not have, but Favre went out and had an amazing game. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with my father passing away. I did, however, go to a job interview and then to work the day after finding out my grandfather passed away and I was certainly very close to my grandfather. I sent 5 years living with him and my grandmother from age 4 to 9. Dirtbag59 04-08-2006, 08:22 PM Hey you guys are forgetting a few things. First of all the Brett Farve has recently experienced the following: 1. The death of his father 2. The death of his brother in law on his property in some sort of ATV accident 3. His wife being diagnosed with Brest Cancer 4. His family became stranded by Katrina with no power for weeks. He also lost his childhood home. and finally 5. The last bastian of pleasure and joy he had left in his life, the Green Bay Packers, have gone from automatic NFC North Champs to Bottom Dwellers. Plus lets not forget the fact that before he was drafted he got in a career threatining car accident. The fact that he has become the NFL's ironman, painkillers or not, with an injury that made docs advise him to hang up his cleats might make him comprable to my childhood hero Cal Ripken. Bret Farve has been through a lot of shit in his life. And for a bunch of people to just pile on and say stuff like well hes rich and this happened to me is bull. Hes never asked for sympathy and everytime somethings challenged him hes toughed it out. The only reason it recieves so much attention is because hes Bret Farve, NFL Legend for the leagues most storied franchise (in the medias eyes) not because he gets up on the podium at press confrences and cries like a little bitch. |
