gtripp, how close to the real thing do you think ours did?
Mock Draft Commentarydmek25 04-11-2006, 01:38 PM gtripp, how close to the real thing do you think ours did? That Guy 04-11-2006, 02:28 PM gtripp, how close to the real thing do you think ours did? its reasonable... dallas probably wouldn't take a corner, KC is more likely to go DB, detroit might wait a year before drafting another QB (in which case Jimmy williams would have probably been the pick). Bengals might be more likely to take gabe watson, and indy would probably wait on an rb if addai was the best left by their pick (trade down, draft gilles, etc). Lawson, wimbley, and jason allen would have probably gone earlier too (though lawson is a great talent, he's a bit pigeon holed as a 3-4 OLB). it could turn out exactly like it has too, those are some of the possibilities though. diehardskin2982 04-11-2006, 04:06 PM thats the best thing about a mock draft... we won't know until draft day regaurdless of the pick what will happen. no matter what any self-proclaimed expert might think Staylor21 04-11-2006, 05:08 PM carolina was able to lock up two players which will fill their needs. Trading for houston allowed for the panthers to get bobby capenter to help with the defense, and they also added lawrence maroney to help the ground attck on offense late in the second round. Some may say they traded alot to get the 33rd pick, but with a solid team to begin with and the addition of these two guys theres not much more they can draft that will be better than what they already have. That Guy 04-11-2006, 05:45 PM not a bad move. thats a 260lb LB... big guy. That Guy 04-11-2006, 06:07 PM while CB is also an important need, I thin winston was the best available for the saints and he can pair with jammal brown for a really over-athletic duo at OT. Winston is a bit more of a project than i'd like, but his upside merits the investment, as his versatility (TE/OG/OT) is very enticing. It looks like 2006 is going to be a year to gain experience and find the best possible OL combination from the available pieces. I really wanted to take mangold here, but since he was gone, some help to keep brees alive is sorely needed. stincomb can move to LG and leave only the C and CB position as a truly glaring need which will have to be filled. GTripp0012 04-11-2006, 10:37 PM gtripp, how close to the real thing do you think ours did? Fairly accurate. I think some guys fell a lot farther then they will (Huff, Wimbley). No huge reaches really. I think the problems with this draft aren't in trades that were made, but the trades that weren't able to be made because of a lack of quick communication. But thats why its a mock. MTK 04-11-2006, 11:14 PM The Jets are excited to grab safety Darnell Bing with their #35 overall pick. Bing is a physical safety that plays the run well and has a good mix of size and speed. FRPLG 04-12-2006, 12:23 AM A lack of a physical and bulky DE, viable at this point in the draft, to play the run meant we needed to add at our other primary area of need: S. With the Jets stealing Bing the Packers went for the next best option. Simpson is a superior athlete with good size. He needs to add bulk and work on discipline and technique but overall he has the most upside of any Safety in the draft outside of Huff. dirthogs311 04-12-2006, 11:59 AM With a depleted secondary, the niners selected a versatile DB to help revamp their defense. He is a fast safety who runs corner time (4.39) - 40 yard dash. |
