Cowboys | Carter says marijuana had a role in his 2004 release
Tue, 4 Apr 2006 17:42:01 -0700

Jean-Jacques Taylor, of the Dallas Morning News, reports former Dallas Cowboys QB Quincy Carter said that marijuana use played a role in his abrupt release from the team before the 2004 season. As noted earlier, Carter signed with the Montreal Allouettes of the CFL Tuesday, April 4. "I made a mistake in the past. That mistake was for marijuana. I'm excited about getting a fresh start with Montreal and I want to put the things in the past behind me," Carter said. "When you walk around and people think you're on cocaine or bipolar, it hurts. None of that was the case." Carter said he will spend the rest of the CFL's offseason in Canada preparing for the upcoming season, which begins at the end of May.

spurrier may have had more success in one 7th round pick than gibbs has had on all of day 2 for the last two years combined. That makes me sad :(.

Oh dont be that sad, Gibbs has had more success in his 2 years back where it counts on the field not the second day of the draft...

There's still much Hamden has to prove before we can say Spurrier (and it wasn't even his call to draft him) may have had success with that pick. Though I'll give them credit for another 7th rounder -- Rock Cartwright -- who could be a back up RB for just about any team in the NFL.

And isn't a Christmas day matchup a little late for a Dallas @ Philly showcase? You'd think the NFL would try to give that one up a bit sooner. By Christmas, who knows if Owens is injured, and if things simmer down about him.

I don't know about that. Spurrier always maintained that he left the personnel and scouting to somebody else. He just "coached" whoever was brought to him. Now, I have no doubt that Spurrier had probably input, and that he made recommendations to Snyder and Cerrato about who he'd like to have. But even with presumably some influence about team needs, it was Snyderatto that made the final call on draft day.

We have SO MANY coaches we should get Spurrier back. We could pay him $2 million a year to be our "Trick Play Specialist". You know, the guy that calls plays that are so contrary to our Offensive philosophy that the other team never sees it coming. Like the 5WR no protection everyone go long play!

I think I remember reading that we got Hamdan because Synder's father liked the college he went to or something.

... or we can bring him back to be Randal-El's personal coach.
