Let's say right before you enter the world, you have a choice. You can either become a famous rock star with a Hall of Fame career, or you can be a famous sports star with a Hall of Fame career.
Which one do you choose and why?
TheMalcolmConnection 04-03-2006, 11:30 AM First off, I'm going to answer this question from the perspective of someone who is single.
Being single, I could imagine I would have a penchant for debauchery, just as I do now, but much tamer.
I would think that both careers would be able to supply scads of the aforementioned, so I would think it's a wash in that regard.
Next, you think about your physical abilities? Would you rather be a physical freak of nature and have to keep your body a fine-tuned machine or be a rock star drinking and smoking years off your life? For me, I love to party and only being able to do it in the offseason wouldn't quite work for me. I mean being a rock star you could come drunk (within reason) and people would be pumped to see you.
Both make millions of dollars, both make you ridiculously famous.
Sadly, the ability to drink at any time I want would make me choose to become a rock star rather than a sports star.

I basically feel the same way. I can't imagine going out drinking one night and then waking up to two a days or practice/film study etc. I'd probably die. I know some of you will say...."well don't drink"......yeah...thats not happening.
Also my personal love for music will always sway me towards being a rock star.
TheMalcolmConnection 04-03-2006, 11:39 AM ...AND every night will be your Super Bowl. Hell, you might even get to PLAY the Super Bowl.
dmek25 04-03-2006, 11:47 AM sports star easily.after a 10 year career,i could retire to a life of leisure.hell, the stones are still touring meaning their careers have lasted 40+ years(yeah,i know they sucked at the super bowl)
Schneed10 04-03-2006, 11:56 AM Sports star, by far for me. Retire at a young age as a multimillionaire, with a brain still intact from not drinking and smoking every night.
Being a rock star would be great while it lasted, but after years of drinking and smoking your equipment isn't likely to function very well, and at that point it doesn't matter how many girls you get.
I'm a glory over fame kind of guy anyway. As a kid I always dreamed of hitting a homerun in the bottom of the 9th to win the world series. I always liked rock stars and stuff, but I never once dreamt of being one.
dmek25 04-03-2006, 12:33 PM if you would look at ozzie right now,it might change you rockers minds

Honestly, my philosophy is to live fast and die young. I don't want to have to worry about my junk working when I'm 50+. I guarantee you that Ozzie looks back at his life and has no regrets (maybe the amount of drugs). Considering I only drink, I might just have a pickled liver and minimal drain bamage.
Sammy Baugh Fan 04-03-2006, 02:49 PM I "am" a rock star so I'll say sport's star.
We rock stars still have to perform in our old years and sports stars are done when they hang up their cleats.
mooby 04-03-2006, 03:30 PM both sides have advantages and disadvantages. While being a rock star might be better, you still have to perform well into an old age, and your constantly working, going on tour, singing at concerts, etc. i'm still not sure at this point what i would do.
