They have only one perceived "hole" (linebacker) and I don't believe they are weak there. This defense will be head and shoulders ahead of any defense that Arrington was on. It won't even be close.

This offseason has been phenomenal. The only negative would be if Taylor misses time which I don't see happening.

I'd agree if I were sure that the defensive line is up to the task yet again this season. If Andre Carter can apply consistent, tenacious pressure on the quarterback it should provide a spark we haven't seen from that position in quite awhile -- not to mention opening things up a bit for Philip Daniels. With Griffin and Salave'a staying healthy for 16+ games, I don't see any reason why the defense shouldn't be even better this year.

But to me, that could be a pretty big 'if'. Especially with Griffin and Salave'a. Notice that we're going through another offseason without a serious, dedicated effort to bolster the defensive line again? Everybody seems happy with the addition of Andre Carter, and so am I, but I thought it needed to go a bit further.

Now, it seems pretty much settled that our first pick in the draft will be either linebacker, offensive lineman, or perhaps cornerback. You have to go with the best player available, I know. It would just be nice to see the remainder of our picks on the second day looking for a diamond in the rough along the D-line.

On a side note is it just me or does Larry Michael look like a massive tool whenever he wears a jersey? I mean doesnt he know how to wear a jersey? Here is a link to him wearing Randle el's jersey, www.redskins.com

While it's nice to have Evans back, I think we have a glut of players on DL. We already have Griffin, Salave'a (spelling?), Killings, Boschetti, and Aki Jones at DT. And now we have Daniels, Wynn, Carter, Evans, and Nic Clemons at DE. Crazy.

Yeah sure, the quantity is there, but what about quality? No question, Carter, Griffin and Salave'a are stars. But both Griffin and Salave'a got banged up quite a bit last year. I still think one more young D-tackle and D-end waiting in the wings would be wise pickups. Evans, Killings, Boschetti, Jones and Clemons are backups at best. I wouldn't want to count on them to anchor our line for any length of time. Renaldo Wynn is just ... there.

I'm still in the camp of those who say that an overhaul of this line is going to be needed sooner rather than later. And that camp has been mysteriously silent recently. Oh sure, each offseason the front office will give lip service to the D-line by signing a player or two. Last year, we passed up what I thought would have been a steal in the fourth round of the draft when 6'7" Chris Canty, the defensive end from UVA was still available. The Skins got yet another H-back in Manuel White instead.

It just seems like the defensive line is forever on the back-burner with these guys. One day, it'll come up to bite them.

killings and evans are quality role players, both can play DT. Wynn can start at either position and be fine. if one guy is injured we shouldn't even notice it, the carter going down hurts pressure and griffin going down is just generally bad.
