D'BOYZ 04-03-2006, 12:05 PM So maybe you upgraded some spots on your o-line, but do you really think that they will gel this quickly? Look at how long it takes o-lines to really come together...
We can get worse than last year so that's an upgrade of some sorts, really I don't expect then to go to the pro bowl or become all-pro they just have to be better then last year o-line thats not asking a lot.
Daseal 04-03-2006, 12:15 PM I think regardless of what the teams do in the draft and from here on in free agency the NFC East will be a SLUGFEST. Every team has a legitimate reason why they could win the division, and every team has at least one pitfall.
As far as TO in Dallas, I also think it depends on your line. People are going to blitz the hell out of you early to see if you can stop it. If you can, then you'll have a good season. If people keep Bledsoe on his back there's very little TO can do. I actually feel our secondary matches up very well with you.
I'm willing to let Archeletta play the run a majority of the time. Springs / Taylor leaning towards TO and Rodgers on Glenn. I'll take Washington on Witten matchup as each player making big plays from time to time. I'm not even so sure we double TO, we'll see.
That said, what exactly is happening in Dallas with offensive coordinator? If I remember correctly, Payton left, if this is true, who took over, and are the running the same / similar / totally different system? (Hurray for run-ons!)
D'BOYZ 04-03-2006, 12:41 PM Palmer took over for Peyton he was the O. Coord for Houston and a Parcell guys he took the Qb. coach spot and was the Qb coach in New England when Bledsoe reach the SB and had his best season.
I also see the NFC East as the toughest division, this is going to be a verry good year.

If it's true that the off. coordinator has left - that environment is ripe for a TO outbreak. A coach that rides you like a mechanical bull, a qb that is emotional and outspokenly honest at times (esp. at the wr), and now a sense of instability with a new offensive coordinator. I'd be a little worried if I was a cowboys fan, but I'm not :) ...
5RINGS 04-03-2006, 06:52 PM Daseal,
Our line will be better. We were trying to play with a FA and a Sixth rounder at our Tackle positions last year, it will be better.
Also, Washington can't cover Witten, just like Ware couldn't cover Cooley last year. LB's can't cover Pro Bowl TE's or Pass Catching FB's for more than 5-7 yards, they just do not have that kind of Ability. Your defense will have to do what people do against your offense, cheat/blitz/rattled the QB so he doesn't see Cooley/Witten open 12 yds downfield.

The Grim Reaper can cover Witten which he will do when he is not putting burgandy streaks on Fairy Glenn's helmet.
All of the 'Boyz fans keep ignoring the loss of Larry Allen which was huge. And I guess that Flozell on a bad wheel is going to pick up right where he left off?? I don't think so.
5RINGS 04-04-2006, 09:49 AM The Grim Reaper can cover Witten
Yeah Taylor can cover Witten.
So then Glenn gets one CB and TO is covered by who? Single coverage on TO? Okay, so really you Double TO cause it would be stupid not to and watch him beat you. He's not Just another Guy playing receiver. He is a game changer/Home Run hitter.
Now you have seven in the box.
Now Dallas tries to run all day. So you blitz, knowing if Bledsoe gets that extra second, he will find the open guy and if it's Glenn or TO it's gonna be six.
So Dallas finally has an above average NFL level offense. That's what TO does for them. I didn't say they were going to be the second coming of the greatest show on Turf.
Yeah it will be important for Flozell to come back 100%, but our Tackle depth now looks like this: Flozell, Fabiani, then the shmoes who gave up 500 sacks last year. That is wayyyy better than starting of your Tackle depth with a FA and a sixth rounder.
Yes we will miss Larry Allen but really he couldn't move side to side anymore.
He was on the crummy line last year and gave up his share of sacks. He is the Best O lineman we have ever had, but the niners are paying him 7 million a year. Jerrah thinks his money is better used elsewhere.
TheMalcolmConnection 04-04-2006, 09:52 AM What happens is Springs covers TO with some safety help, Springs covers Glenn and our LBs are MORE than athletic enough to cover Witten. Our run support is top five easily, so there's really no worries there.
I think you guys will have a nightmare on your hands with Carter.
TheMalcolmConnection 04-04-2006, 09:53 AM And honestly, I was watching some footage of Witten earlier, and Pro Bowl or not, he just really doesn't impress me. He has good hands, but it always seems like no one was covering him. Were his numbers good last year? I'm just wondering if people figured him out.
backrow 04-04-2006, 10:06 AM Whitten was the 7th rated TE, with 757 yds, and 6 TDs.
Cooley was the 6th rated TE, with 774, and 7 TDs.
Both are good. Cooley is better.
