Looks like we are only getting a 7th rounder (250th overall) as a compensatory draft pick. Bummer.

Bummer. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/9341500 GTripp0012 03-27-2006, 11:21 PM Here's who got the picks that matter: 3 33-97 New York Jets 4 33-130 Denver 4 34-131 Pittsburgh 4 35-132 Baltimore 4 36-133 Pittsburgh 5 33-165 Green Bay 5 34-166 Baltimore 5 35-167 Pittsburgh 5 36-168 Philadelphia 5 37-169 Tennessee Wait, so the Eagles get a 5 AND a 6 for losing Burgess, and great talent like Jermane Mayberry and Ike Reese? The even added McMahon, who played more than Patten did for us! So the Jets got the big one. That gives 'em 5 day ones. That Guy 03-28-2006, 02:00 AM i said #41 in round 7, but looks like we got #42 instead... my bad. So much for everyone that thought we'd get a 3rd and a 4th ;) drew54 03-28-2006, 02:46 AM We will not get these high draft picks ever. The reason being we always sign free agents to replace our lost players. If last year we had drafted guys for our depth we might have gotten a higher pick or two. I think we'll be okay with our free agents. That Guy 03-28-2006, 02:50 AM We will not get these high draft picks ever. The reason being we always sign free agents to replace our lost players. I think we'll be okay with our free agents. yeah, the thing is, 3rd round picks are given when first round talent leaves and isn't replaced. It makes it not hurt as much, but its not like these comp picks are ever going to replace the losses by themselves... It does help cheap clubs stay cheap though. That Guy 03-28-2006, 03:43 AM comparision of the KFFL crazy forum prediction guy with reality: Actual: Projected: Difference: 3 1 1 3 1 1 4 4 5 4 5 6 1 4 -> 5 5 5 10 5 6 12 2 5 -> 6 6 7 17 6 4 16 7 15 32 7 16 32 1 7 -> 6 so out of 32 picks, 4 were off by a single round. VERY good. Those that were off were probably covered in the 2 pages of contingencies anyways ;) current picks by round: round 1 - 32 picks round 2 - 32 picks round 3 - 33 picks (1 comp) round 4 - 36 picks (4 comp) round 5 - 37 picks (5 comp) round 6 - 39 picks (7 comp) round 7 - 47 picks (15 comp) - 10 are true comp picks, 5 are really 8th round picks going to the worst teams of last year to reach 32 total comp picks. that leaves us with: pick 053 (round 2, pick 21) pick 154 (round 5, pick 21) pick 174 (round 6, pick 4 - from jets, for ramsey) pick 190 (round 6, pick 20) pick 197 (round 6, pick 27 - from panthers, for gardner) pick 215 (round 7, pick 22) pick 250 (round 7, pick 42 - comp for value difference between smoot/pierce and patten/rabach) out of 255 picks. dmek25 03-28-2006, 07:14 AM we are pretty darn close to mr irrelevant That Guy 03-28-2006, 07:17 AM yeah, its worthless, and it can't be traded either :P freddyg12 03-28-2006, 09:01 AM I didn't realize that we don't have a 4th as ThatGuy posted, I can't remember when we traded that one. Look at the draft this way - we haven't had 7 picks in a while. We've got quantity if not quality. There are always gems on day 2 & now we have more chances at finding them. Good way to build depth and find a sleeper. scowan 03-28-2006, 11:03 AM I would trade our whole draft for a 1st rounder. I mean let's face it, only our 2nd round pick has a chance to make the team anyway. The rest of those 6 and 7th rounders are worthless. |
