Encouraged because of what Owens will force defenses to do, which is always account for him and he will draw double teams. Dallas did not have that luxury last season. Most double teams were on Glenn. Key did not get doubled, nor did Witten. So opposing defenses were able to show 8 man fronts and get early pressure on Bledsoe (especially after Adams went down) and were able to limit Julius Jones's production. Now with Owens, we should not see as many 8 man fronts and that should help. It is not so much that catches that Owens gets or the yards after catch. It is that he is a legitimate threat to the defense and some defenses will have to double up both Glenn and Owens. Disappointed because we had bigger needs than Owens. Dallas released Larry Allen and replaced him with a depth guy from the Lions (Kosier). That was a step backwards. Released Glover and have not signed a replacement for him. There are still some voids to fill.
