Some stats are valuable, some are worthless.

A statistic is a measurement of something. So, the question is: What are you trying to measure? And...does the stat actually give you an accurate measurement?

Regardless of your math aptitude, browsing the DVOA website on the link I provided will give you a better understanding of the problems involved.

I would just like to repeat that footballoutsiders (where this article is from) is a real quality site. Definately worth checking out.

there is either 2 ways to look at stats,one like they are the holy grail that you never stray from.and two,that stats dont tell the story.its almost impossible to have your cake and eat it,too.you cant use some stats and disregard others,it just doesnt work
