Cowboys Officially Sign Terrell OwensPWNED 03-20-2006, 10:27 AM yeah they gave him exactly what he wanted. they made him the highest paid receiver in the league. lets see him outperform THAT contract. D'BOYZ 03-20-2006, 10:54 AM that 49mill contract was backloaded, and he got 3mill the second year. this year he'll make 10mill and then 8 and 7 mill if he stays on the team. Its definately a lot more money than his last contract (which every analyst thought was a bad deal for him). exactly and the way the contract was structure was to protect the cowboys they only gave him a 5mill signing bonus he has 2 3 mill roster bonus 1 for 2007 and 1 for 2008 that means if TO starts pulling a TO he'll get cut and it will only cost the cowboys 3.34 in 2007 1.67 in 2008 wich is verry cap frendly. I think is a good contract because it pays him the money he was asking to be happy wich is higher than Moss and Harrison an protects the cowboys for any stupidity he might want 2 pull. Also we all know that if he screws it here he wont get a 4th chance, s owe just have 2 waith and see. Especially with that much money. PWNED 03-20-2006, 11:03 AM i see problems if, due to inflation next year, that some receiver somewhere gets a higher contract than him and he "outplayed" his this year. Hog1 03-20-2006, 11:11 AM Apologies if already posted! Parcells not at the TO introductory press conference???????? if true, that's WAY wierd!!!!!! Sociofan 03-20-2006, 11:19 AM Apologies if already posted! Parcells not at the TO introductory press conference???????? if true, that's WAY wierd!!!!!! I posted this last night on the T.O. Web Site thread: Interesting thing is that I heard the T.O. signing was 100% Jerry Jones' idea. Parcells really wanted nothing to do with him. That dynamic will create some real tension if T.O. starts to "act up" again and Bill's hands are tied. I really don't think Bill was on board with this signing and this might be a sign that he's still trying to swallow it. Then again, he could just be out of town on vacation. D'BOYZ 03-20-2006, 11:25 AM I realy don't get your post. Jones has won three SB's as owner of the Cowboys. When they did give Deion 13 mil he could still perform on the field. What did we pay him for doing nothing? Troy retired from Lavars hit. Emmitt needed to retire but he still wanted to play and chose to play for another team. With the cap sometimes you have to let go of franchise players who still want to play. With the way that they have structured Owens deal they can cut him next year with no cap hit. I would not want Owen's on the skins but they did a great job on his contract so if Owen's does start problems they can get rid of him. Oh, and when they fired Landry it ticked off alot of diehard Cowboy fans at the time but if you would have asked any Cowboys fans 7 or 8 years later they would say it was the right move. I'm not defending Jones but he has not done all that bad. Great post look guys this is why I like to come and post in this site even tough we rut for different teams there are a lot of you who give excellent analysis, and feedback of each situation and see a subject as fearly minded as posible. And you can talk football with real fact with everyones different points of view but everyone tryes to defend their own point of view with reason and not the typical ....... YEAH REDSKINS RULE, DALLAS SUCK or viceversa. And really Jerry has done some bad moves especially with coaches, 1 trade Joey Gallowey and some draft pics but hey he also has brought 3 SB to the franchise and made a Dinasty in the time. And turn a Franchise that was bankrupt in 2 1 of the most profitable franchise in the NFL It's like you guys everytime you get upset when the media or someone else attacks Danny and his moves and what he has done with the franchise and every time bring back his 2000 signings. The fact is that Danny has made your franchsie the most profitable franchise in NFL has change some of his aproachs but has allways been determine 2 win and do what ever it takes, just like Jerry they're both competitors. He has the best coachin staff money can buy seriuosly he has 3 head coaches in 1 team, he stop signing the big name old free agents and has gone for players that can help the team and play the contract he has made an art of cap manegment by making contract bakloadead after 3 years so players can be cut or restructure. He still overpays in my book but you can't deny that the resent pickups have all work out you still question some of his metods but you can't deny that he would do what it takes 2 win. And thats what you wnat for an owner someone thats competitive someone that tries to give your team the best chance 2 win not like Detroit, NO, thats filed with under achivers and 4 years ago I would include Cincinati and Arizona but they're both changing ways. 724Skinsfan 03-20-2006, 11:27 AM Parcells is the king of tough love. By not showing up, he's making a nonverbal statement of "I don't want you, you need to really impress me!" D'BOYZ 03-20-2006, 11:28 AM Apologies if already posted! Parcells not at the TO introductory press conference???????? if true, that's WAY wierd!!!!!! actually don't read anything 2 it Parcell since joinning the Cowboys has NEVER attended a press conference in a introduccion of a FA signing not even Bledsoe or KJ. He just doesn't do that. 724Skinsfan 03-20-2006, 11:33 AM actually don't read anything 2 it Parcell since joinning the Cowboys has NEVER attended a press conference in a introduccion of a FA signing not even Bledsoe or KJ. He just doesn't do that. I never picked up on that. |
