NFL | Thompson works out at Pro Day
Sun, 2 Apr 2006 11:50:07 -0700

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports North Dakota State DL Rodney Thompson measured a height of 6-2 and a weight of 324 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash with times of 5.03 seconds and 5.05 seconds while he finished the short shuttle in 4.60 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.43 seconds. He measured a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-6 broad jump while completing 22 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

His last known times were 310lbs and 5.20... adding 15lbs and knocking off .15seconds means he gets a free trip to someone's training camp as fodder for 2006.

good (not earthshattering) numbers... he's a 6'3" 245lbs 4.55 guy that should go near round 5.

decent numbers. another undrafted guy (terrible senoir year). productive in college (over 5ypc, 2 of his 3 seasons he caught 50 balls) and someone who might be a good camp fodder type pickup.

NFL | Washington works out at Pro Day
Sun, 2 Apr 2006 16:06:04 -0700

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Missouri DB Calvin Washington measured a height of 6-0 1/8 and a weight of 195 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash with times of 4.57 seconds and 4.63 seconds while completing the short shuttle in 3.88 seconds, the long shuttle in 11.38 seconds, and the three-cone drill in 6.56 seconds. He measured a 36-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-10 1/2 broad jump while completing 14 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

Slow 40 time, but those are the best shuttle and 3cone times i've seen all offseason. His jumping isn't amazing either, but its good enough. He could be a great coverage safety or nickel corner if his football skills can match his measurements (he played in 56 games in college, but only posted 1 int his junoir year and 21 tackles his senoir year... either no one caught anything or he had a very very small role). Might be decent camp fodder.

NFL | Maxey works out at Pro Day
Sun, 2 Apr 2006 12:33:47 -0700

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Miami CB Marcus Maxey measured a weight of 192 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash twice with times of 4.42 seconds while finishing the short shuttle in 4.24 seconds, the long shuttle in 11.26 seconds, and the three-cone drill in 7.60 seconds. He was also able to complete 17 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

this is a 6'2" (big) CB, and running 4.42 helps (his last 40 time was 4.48). He'll be gone in the 3rd-4th round, cause he's one of only 3 CBs this year that are 6'2"+ and run in the 4.4s. Those shuttle and 3cone times are terrible (the better CBs can get 3.95ish on the shuttle, and 6.65ish on the 3cone). That means that his agility and his ability to start and stop on a dime are really bad and he'll struggle on quick cuts and fakes.

NFL | N. Cole works out at Pro Day
Wed, 5 Apr 2006 21:46:05 -0700

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports New Mexico State OL Nick Cole measured a height of 6-0 5/8 and a weight of 350 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash with times of 5.20 seconds and 5.28 seconds while finishing the short shuttle in 4.40 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.90 seconds. He measured a 25-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-5 broad jump while completing 25 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

with almost all the pro days out of the way now, this thread is about done.

However, when a fatty (350lbs on a 6'6" guy is fat, so 350lbs on a 6'0" guy is morbid) runs in the 5.2s, it's worth noting. Our phatest OL (doc at 345) runs a 5.6 even. 25 reps isn't exactly worth writing home about, and it means most of his bulk is indeed fat tissue, but man, he's fast for a tubby.
