I'm in the Randle-El camp. You look at his stats and they're unimpressive. Just like Santana Moss's were with the Jets the year before we got him. Until you get to the Yards Per Catch number. Moss was in the 18 range, tops in the league. But Randle-El isn't far off from that, sitting at 15.9.

That's a key number. The total catches and yards that a receiver puts up are a function of the times a team throws to him, more than anything. Randle-El was good enough to handle a much bigger workload there, but they had better options in that amazing running game and Hines Ward. But the Yards Per Catch says it all, when he got the chance he made big plays. Same theory applied to Moss, and we know how that turned out. The Redskins saw big-play ability in his 18 yards per catch, and just figured out how to use him better than the Jets did.

I'm not saying Randle-El is going to blow up like Moss. But I think he's going to have a big impact on our passing game. And he'll give defensive coordinators absolute fits trying to scheme for him throughout the week. And just as Moss helped Portis, this move will help Portis even more.

Plus he returns punts. And returns them very well.

moss had a 1000 yard year before he came here. randle el hasn't really gotten over 600. Not saying he can't beat it, but now with 4-5 legit receiving threats it'll be hard.

Does anyone else feel nervous about Lloyd? Tony K pointed out his excuse for not feeling welcomed in SF was people weren't "feeling my style". Also if you watch the interview with carter he all but says he didn't like the man.

Just seems to have some maturity issues.

we knew that going in and some of us complained loudly :/

we just have to hope it got left in san fran or winning will fix it. but he sounded like a guy that laughed after losses (which tends to piss people off). Carter though, seems like an absolute stand up guy (actually he came off as a typical piano dork, only much much bigger).

Lloyd's issues could have been overblown, I'm sure Gibbs and company did their share of background work on Lloyd and if they are satisfied he's a good fit, that's all I need to know.

Yesterday, Andre Carter called Lloyd a talented player who makes catches in games and practices hard throughout the week. What more could you ask for?

you could tell by the pauses and careful choosing of words he was trying hard not to say what he wanted to say.

diplomacy at its best. im sure he had things to say about how his other teammates felt about him. hopefully they dont clash.

If you combine Randle El and Lloyd (since they address our problems at WR) I would have voted for that.......but as a single move, I think Carter is the best move so far. I've been dying for a pass rushing DE for years now, and I think Carter is going to be just what our D needed to become a truly scary defense for the rest of the league.

But it's the fact that we have 4 legit receiving threats that will make our offense so much more productive. And Randle-El adds more than just another legit receiving threat, he adds punt returns and trick plays.

I'm not saying he will duplicate Moss (which I stated in my original post), but his impact will be enormous, especially in the ripple effects it creates for the entire offense. With him on the field, Portis could blow away all previous Redskin records for RBs.

Carter is a very valuable addition as well. But if you're going to doubt Randle-El for not putting up a 1000 yard season, by the same token you have to be concerned that Carter hasn't surpassed 10 sacks since 2002. Randle-El's versatility will help us more than anyone else.

And viewing his highlight reel and the catches he's capable of making, he'll probably catch Brunell's throw-away's too.

I think all our new additions will make an impact in one area or another, but RE will probaly have the opportunity to touch the ball the most. Receiving, passing, Punt & KO returns will give him the most opportunity to make a big impact. It's that versatility IMO that gives him the edge. Of course a good pass rusher will always impact a game, therefore Carter would be my second choice.
