warriorzpath 03-15-2006, 12:15 PM He makes it sound like there was this great salary cap purge when Cory Raymer had a freakin million dollar salary!
Yeah, it's like cutting Cory Raymer really hurt us - when the redskins can probably draft or pickup someone with greater value easily. This is one of the most weakest arguments out there right now and for a professional writer, at that. Come on, he's really grasping for straws ... or whatever the expression is :)
D'BOYZ 03-15-2006, 12:40 PM his[/i] life).
I don't think so there's only 1 way your grandson will hear about Ramsey if he does well where ever he goes.
There's only 3 situation tha twil llast in the memory of every media guy, fan and personel in the NFL for years 2 come and 2 involve the cargers.
#1 The biggest flop in history RYAN LEAF that's story has been used for the last 8 years and just won't die he's the worst pic in draft history and I don't think no one can surpass him.
#2 The Chargers letting Brees walk this will only pan out if brees at least does a decent job in NO and Rivers turns out to be a bust.
#3 The Cleveland Browns draft pics since they came back to the league. 1999 1 tim Couch bust (gone no longer plays), 2000 #1 courtney brown bust (lest to denvers appers to get his carreer back), 2001 #3 gerard Warren bust (good player didnt play for his draft status in denver getting his carrer back),2002 #16 William Green bust (never had more than 500 yard last year only 20), 2003 #21 Jeff fine C average(good player but no probowler hasn't live up to expectation), 2004 #6 Kellen Winslow Jr MEGA BUST (has played 2 games in 2 years do to injuries), 2005 #3 Braylon Edwards good ( seems like the real deal new manegment pic up played 10 games got hurth lets see if he's not injury prone)
Those are the the things right now that willl go down in history.

Yeah, I said it all in fun. I was greatly exagerating my point, just to add a little humor and to emphasize it.
But I also need to disagree with you - that Hershel Walker/draft(s) trade and maybe Ricky Williams should be included. 2 just off the top of the dome.

speaking of KWII, anyone actually think he'll get his career on track?
GoSkins! 03-15-2006, 01:57 PM I liked the first question about the how he keeps calling out how next year the skins will be in cap hell.
King responds by saying "it's about winning".
Can someone draw the connection here? Anyone? I didn't think so.
Heck, even my wife wont blatantly change the subject like that that during a losing arguement.
He is a women.
PWNED 03-15-2006, 02:03 PM EVERY next year the skins will be in cap hell. YAWN.
#56fanatic 03-15-2006, 03:11 PM You know its getting a bit re-diculous(schneed10 is that spelled right?just kidding with ya!!) having to explain or defend our spending of free agents. Now not all of us actually agree with the free spending, but over the last year we have come away with some quality players. Now, we have lost a couple as well because of money being less abundant a following year, but who the hell cares. Joe had to defend our spending at the latest news conference when we introduced Carter. This is getting a bit out of control. Why keep going after the guy who has created the richest franchise in all of sports, bar none!! Why go after a guy that gives all of his coaches what the WANT, or think will get them to the next level. Why go after a guy who buys his boy hood team, tries to give the fans and community a superbowl every single year, a guy who works around the clock trying to do what is best for the Redskins. I might now agree with everything Danny does, but to question why he does this or how he does that is getting a bit old. Why not bitch about people who only care about what goes in their pockets instead of what goes on the field. There are more of those idiots than there are Dannys. I kinda wish there wasn't a salary cap, Danny would buy everyone and god willing win a superbowl every year or two. I am just sick of these idiots dogging my boys. get a freakin life. below is the article where Joe defends our spending.
Joe Gibbs defended the Washington Redskins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=was)' aggressive approach to free agency on Wednesday, dismissing any implication that the team is somehow circumventing the NFL's salary cap.
"The thing I want to emphasize is this: We haven't done one thing that anybody else can't do," the Redskins' Hall of Fame coach said following a news conference to introduce free agent signing Andre Carter (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5454). "We have certain rules in the league. Here's the cap, here's the numbers, here's what you can spend, so everybody in the league can do what we're doing, it's just that they choose not to, many of them."
Despite starting the month some $13 million over the $102 million cap that was set following negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement, the Redskins have once again been one of March's busiest teams.
Since Saturday, they have traded for San Francisco receiver Brandon Lloyd (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6460) and signed five unrestricted free agents: receiver Antwaan Randle El (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5948), safety Adam Archuleta (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5467), tight end Christian Fauria (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3130), backup quarterback Todd Collins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3116) and Carter. Randle El and Archuleta alone were given contracts with a combined $21.5 million in guaranteed money.
"Each team's a little different, how they want to build a team. ... Certainly Pittsburgh is a scheme that works, they won a Super Bowl," Gibbs said. "If you watch their team, there are a lot of draft choices, they're real conscious about that. It remains to be seen how we'll end up doing, but we've chosen to be more aggressive in free agency."
The Redskins put themselves under the cap by cutting five expendable players on the eve of free agency, and they also saved $4.4 million in the deal that made linebacker LaVar Arrington (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5031) a free agent. Since then, they've been cutting cap dollars by renegotiating contracts with returning veterans, giving the players upfront bonuses that can be prorated for salary cap purposes.
Owner Dan Snyder's overspending in 2000 caused then-coach Marty Schottenheimer to make drastic cuts in 2001, but Snyder's strategy since then has been to map out a cap strategy using what Gibbs said were "three- to four-year spreadsheets." The goal is to shift cap money around in a coherent manner that keeps the team from being forced to part with players it wants to keep.
It hasn't worked perfectly -- coveted linebacker Antonio Pierce (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5742) left for the New York Giants (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nyg) last year -- but Gibbs' free agency upgrades helped get the Redskins into the playoffs last year, and the overhaul continues. Only five projected 2006 starters were with the team before Gibbs arrived in January 2004.
The best free agent additions under Gibbs have been linebacker Marcus Washington (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5088), cornerback Shawn Springs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3952), defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5071) and defensive end Phillip Daniels (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3634).
"People say, 'Why would you go get the free agents?'" Gibbs said. "Well, look at the guys we wouldn't have on our football team."
The Redskins are able to afford huge signing bonuses because Snyder's marketing savvy has helped make the team one of the most profitable in sports, but Gibbs downplayed the connection between Snyder's fortune and the team's free agency haul.
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."
PWNED 03-15-2006, 03:19 PM yeah im glad joe said that. he was pretty much calling other teams out. hes saying this is how WE do it and other teams have that opportunity but theyre too chicken shit to do it.

That's a great link to a current article on SI.com that pretty much covers Redskin fan reaction to the negative bias in the media. It's pretty funny how the columnist (Andrew Perloff sp?) reacts to all of the Pro-Skins "hate-mail." Keep it coming guys! :towel:
