I like them. Not so sure if there are enough balls though. Portis needs 20 or so carries a game. Moss,Lloyd,Cooley,Randel El,Patten. thats a lot of touches, just hope no one starts bitching.
Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?#56fanatic 03-14-2006, 10:18 AM I like them. Not so sure if there are enough balls though. Portis needs 20 or so carries a game. PWNED 03-14-2006, 10:20 AM i worried about that too until i read what gibbs had to say. he said something about when he had clark, sanders and monk that one of them was always unhappy, but they knew they would score a lot of points and get a lot of yards. There probably will be some bitching and moaning at some point, but as long as Gibbs keeps everyone on target for the playoffs, all the receivers should be OK. And odds are that one or two of the receivers will miss a few games with injury. Beemnseven 03-14-2006, 11:06 AM which 3rd rounder is going to put up 800-1000yards THIS year. immediate impact beyond the 1st round is very hard to find. cooley looks like a 800yard/year TE, but in his first year he only put up 260yards. WR and DE draftees are notoriously bad at being useful early on. That's assuming we would have picked a WR or DE with the 3rd round pick. Cornerbacks and offensive line help are also on the needs list. My contention is that there might have been a wideout that we could have acquired through free agency close to Lloyd's ability that wouldn't have costed us draft picks. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-14-2006, 11:39 AM The problem is that with the new CBA extension, we KNOW the moves are going to come back to bite us ... well, at least a bit. Teams that go over the cap have the following year's cap reduced whereas teams that are over the cap have the following year's cap increased. So how many years is it going to take us to have a salary cap of $5 million? drew54 03-14-2006, 11:56 AM The problem is that with the new CBA extension, we KNOW the moves are going to come back to bite us ... well, at least a bit. Spell check please Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-14-2006, 01:16 PM Whaaaaaaat?? I like people we signed and think our team will make a very strong run at the Super Bowl. I simply don't know where we are getting the money from, what the contracts actually look like, and what cap ramifications they are going to have. Fortunately, people have been calling for our cap death for years and they've been wrong every time. I too thought we'd have cap woes this year. I was wrong. I'll probably be wrong again. I just am absolutely confused as to where the money is coming from. My understanding is that under the new CBA, any cash over the cap affects the team's cap the following year. So, if a team spends a lot one year, they can spend less the following year and vice-versa. So, I'm just wondering where we are getting the money. I'm totally lost on the point. I know how we are pulling it off this year, I just don't know how it affects us in the future. Ohh well. I don't care. I am just gonna take this one year at a time, there's no point in dwellling on what might happen in 4 years considering no one seems to have figured out the new CBA ... not even the owners. Okay, back to the signings. Is any defense going to be able to stop us? Is any offense going to be able to beat us? Doubt it. |
