EXoffender 03-12-2006, 03:37 PM It's all about the money folks.
If Snyder wants someone they rarely leave town without a deal in hand.I said in a previous post that I didn't want to sign Lloyd and Randle-El. I just hope the money doesn't run out. Or the distrubution of balls.
SkinsLB5607 03-12-2006, 04:14 PM Screw Da Bears I guess Randle El wants to be a WR and with the Bears who knows Grossman mite get injured yet again (2 times in 2 yrs) and ORton sucks so they mite have offered the QB job to El? LOL

I'm with you. Why are we going after him when have other major needs right now? We should concentrate on re-signing key free agents like Ryan Clark, Khary Campbell, and Ade Jimoh and look for a TE, pass rushing DE, and 3rd string QB in free agency. Weakside linebacker and nickleback can be addressed in the 2nd and 4th rounds, and depth at any positions like C-G, S (assuming we don't re-sign Omar Stoutmire), WR (preferably a return specialist), TE, DL, and/or possibly help at P and K could be addressed in the lower rounds of the draft. I can't understand why we're looking at guys like Randle El and Archuleta when we have other glaring needs. It will just hurt our cap in the long run and possibly hurt team cohesion by not allowing us to re-sign other guys. :confused-
EXoffender 03-12-2006, 05:05 PM Bears tried the sneak attack. Trying to sign Randle-El before he's done with us. Ha!
That Guy 03-12-2006, 06:46 PM Also, I feel the need to give some kudos to Snyder on his salesmanship. He has developed the reputation around the league as a guy that is willing to shell out big bucks. That may have cost us when he was going after Deion and Mark Carrier, but it's paying dividends now. Now, whenever a free agent hears that the Redskins are interested in him, this is the first place he wants to visit. And then once he visits, Snyder rarely lets him get away. Snyder has developed that reputation and he's using it to his benefit rather than letting the media's criticism get to him.
It's a pretty great thing, when you think about it. Imagine you're a free agent, and your agent says hey there are four teams interested in you: the Bears, the 49ers, the Colts, and the Redskins. What do you want to do?
Um agent, we're going to Washington first.
good post, and i really think the wasted money and the mediots bashing actually helps us by sustaining the big spending rep danny has. the media thinks its terrible and continually bash him, but i think that helps keep his name in the headlines and has every agent keeping us in the back of their minds.

we've offered a tender to jimoh and clemons, we are looking for a blocking TE, carter is a pass rushing DE (and that makes wynn DE/DT depth) and collins is a #3 QB and got flown by private jet straight from his vacation to washington saturday morning. You want depth at WR that's a return specialist... what do you think R'El is?
you say you want safety depth, yet you don't understand why we'd want archuleta?
we can get a punter undrafted. all the kicers suck this year.
according to the facts, everything you're worried about is being taken care of.
RedskinPete 03-12-2006, 06:54 PM I have to tell you ever time Brown returned kicks and punts I hoped he wouldn't turn it over! El returning thins will be great!
drew54 03-12-2006, 07:02 PM He is an excellent return man. That right there is worth the additional 12 million we gave him over the Bears offer.
Now if only we had a kicker that could get the ball into the endzone on kickoffs instead of the 20 yard line, John Hall style.
That Guy 03-12-2006, 07:54 PM its 7 years 31 mill... sounds like the exact same deal moss got ;)
we just got lloyd and R'El could be #3 or #4 on the depth chart, so you gotta pay the guy more. as least we won't fumble returns now.
OL, CB, LB, K, P left to go (with no one targetted yet). P can still be done in the draft (or undrafted), OL/CB we can fix one with the 2nd pick and hope beyond hope someone in the late rounds can step up, or try for a FA (CB #3 is much cheaper in FA than backup OL, which is SUPER cheap in the draft). kicker is FA or bust. there are no FA punters.
