If and when Randle El is signed by us, Taylor Jacobs and James Thrash are gone. If David Patten looks bad in training camp he'll be on the next bus out of D.C. too.
I see the Redskins picking up a WR in the Draft if Andre Carter is signed. There are going to be some left in the second round that will help us out tremendously.

I think they are in pretty good shape at wideout now (2 #1s). Do all of the Randel-El seekers want him for punt returning?

Why I want to see him is that it is another playmaker on the offense. We've got big time problems at QB. Upgrading at WR is a less expensive way to impact our passing game. If he brings special teams and gadget plays, that's a bonus.

REL and BLloyd are not super stars. But in the big picture, the sum will be greater than the parts.

Isn't that inflating things just a tad?

I really think this whole thing is going to be interesting. Right now we are on some crazy kind of rush to get ever WR we see, because last season we had a huge WR depth problem. I agree Jacobs will definately be gone, but we are still going to have Trash and Patten. So this makes Moss, Lloyd, Trash, Patten. I feel that Patten won't do well at camp, and hes heading out too. But that still leaves us with a similar problem as last year, one good reciever, and a bunch of ify ones. It would be great to have Randle El, but then I worried its going to cause a whole bunch of problems, with two great recievers(Moss and him), and one who thinks he is beyond great(Lloyd).

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports free agent WR Antwaan Randle El (Steelers) has rejected a contract offer from the Chicago Bears (http://www.kffl.com/team/11/nfl). His agent is still in contact with the team to keep talks open.

we better not end up overpaying for him if we get him

I heard it was something like 5 years, 20 million with a $7 million signing bonus. Apparently, the sticking point is that Randle El wants a a 6-year deal, like they gave Muhsin Muhammad last off-season

No. Here is why: The passing game is why the Seahawks were in the Super Bowl and the Skins were watching at home.

Campbell may be the second coming of Joe Montana or Heath Shuler. We don't have a clue. He has yet to fire a regular season NFL pass in anger.

Brunell had some great games this past season. Unfortunately, as the year wore on, the Skins were winning in spite of him, not because of him.

For the season, we ranked 19th in terms of YPG passing with 194/YPG. Most of that yardage was in the first half of the season. In the post season, it was 127/YPG. Upgrading the passing game is essential if the Skins are going to build on what they have going from last year.

The following quote is from an article in today's Chicago Sun-Times:

"Randle El visited the Redskins, while the Bears were compiling a list of other possibilities to fill their need for a return specialist."

That has me thinking that maybe Randle El's concern may not be the money so much in Chicago but what his role will be. Maybe he's upset that they apparently don't see him first and foremost as a primary (or secondary) WR. Of course, now that we have Lloyd this could make the Redskins less appealing to Randle El as well.

some of it was playcalling and not having any receivers with moss and cooley

it wasn't all the qbs fault
