Andre Carter could be a good DE if he is not always doubled. Capable of 10+ sacks. He is just not quick enough for our 3-4.
Good luck with B-Lloyd9erman 03-12-2006, 03:03 AM Andre Carter could be a good DE if he is not always doubled. Capable of 10+ sacks. He is just not quick enough for our 3-4. That Guy 03-12-2006, 03:20 AM that's good to know. 10+ sacks > 0.5 sacks (wynn). Dirtbag59 03-12-2006, 03:22 AM that's good to know. 10+ sacks > 0.5 sacks (wynn). No you idiot. .5 sacks > 10+ sacks. Wait hold on let me count..... hooskins 03-12-2006, 09:45 AM Lloyd is definately worth the risk. It sure beats drafting a rookie, who could be a total coin flip. SC Skins Fan 03-12-2006, 10:06 AM We have a couple draft picks that have never been given a chance. We just don't feel that Lloyd has the heart and determination that we would like. http://serv2.imagehigh.com/files/ih000001/17434_lloyd_ducks.gif I was a big supporter of Lloyd....up until the drop againt CHI in the redzone that he blamed on the QB. Clearly it is a bad throw, but Llyod should probably be aware of the routes on the play and know he is the only receiver in the area. I think we'll have to say that the jury is out and we will see come training camp/first couple of games. 9erman (and SF press) are not the only ones that I have heard bashing Llyod/questioning his work ethic/consistency. I've also heard his route running leaves something to be desired (i.e. he'll run a dig but forget to dig). I'd say someone needs to smack him around a bit, yank the big gold chains off his neck, and remind him he is a football player and not the next coming of Jay-Z as it seems like a lot of his issues have to do with preparation and mindset rather than skill. Someone needs to bring him back to earth and he needs to devote more time to football rather than chasing a record deal...and please get rid of that website (ouch). Funny thing is that when I read 9erman's commentary my mind went way back to 1996 rather than last year with Santana. I remember I was on another Skins board at the time and a Rams fan came on and trumpeted a similar warning about Sean Gilbert and everyone jumped down his throat. I'd say we still probably got the better end of that deal (they got Lawrence Phillips at #6, Fairly Glenn went #7, and Cedric something [DE bust] went to the Giants at #8) plus we fleeced the Panthers for two #1 picks (wow!) that turned into Champ Bailey and Lavar Arrington. Point being he was at least right about Gilbert and his horrible attitude. Anyway, I take it as a good sign that my pessimism is back after my initial euforia of last night...probably means Llyod will have 1,400 yards and 10 TDs. LongTimeSkinsFan 03-12-2006, 11:42 AM The vanilla defense Nolan ran in DC had a lot to do with the lack of talent and many injuries on your defense. He is a good motivator and will not be calling the plays I've also seen him run the same defense in NY (giants) and Baltimore when both teams had talent. While he is the most talked about DC he is far from the best. His love affair with prevent defenses is sickening and lack of agressiveness has cost his teams many a game. Furthermore, on the subject of Norv, I couldn't agree more. He is a horrible HC. Can't motivate, is too soft on the players, and can't seem to garner their respect because he's too busy trying to be everyone's best friend. As an OC, he is an incredible offensive mind. Give him a top flite running back, tight end, and QB and he'll put together a solid offense for you. We'll see what happens with Lloyd. There's lots of nay-sayers out there, no doubt, but then again everyone said that trading Moss for Coles would be a bust. Well it was for the Jets at least. We got a pro-bowl receiver out of the deal and the Jets got a Toe-bowl receiver. We're giving up a 3rd RD and 4th RD (don't listen to what the Post says, 90% of the time they make up stories on the laptop as they go along and call it news) so I feel it's pretty even in terms of value. We'll see if he's got the stuff to be the #2. I think there's going to be some heated competition for that position in SC and he'll be one of the contenders. 9erman 03-12-2006, 12:06 PM I've also seen him run the same defense in NY (giants) and Baltimore when both teams had talent. Good post....I think that we come out great here by picking up draft picks and replacing Lloyd through FA. I wish y'all the best of luck with both Lloyd and Carter and I hope they do well for you. BEAT THE COWBOYS!!!!!! CRT3 03-12-2006, 12:26 PM They not only have Norv, they also have Vanilla Ice Cream Man. Remember all the stuff he spewed last year about our team when he was hired. Guess the butt whipping didn't teach him a lesson. I would say good luck to the 9er fan but really I hope they go 0-16. For criss sake it is Norv and Nolan. 9erman 03-12-2006, 12:28 PM They not only have Norv, they also have Vanilla Ice Cream Man. Isn't this really a cry for help? Aren't you really saying that you have experienced too much pain rooting for the 49ers as of late and are looking for a soft place to land? We understand. We'll welcome you over to the Burgandy and Gold with open arms. |
