Nothing against Arch but I don't understand all this talk about a "core group of guys" and then letting Clark go. :madani:

Who said that Clark was deemed a "core redskin"? My understanding is that the Skins have determined the 15 guys they feel like they need to keep together to keep continuity. I don't think that Clark could possibly be in that group of 15. I like him, but he isn't M. Washington, or Griff, or Jansen...

15 guys don't make a team they don't need to be a MWash or CGrif or JJan to be a big part of the team.

I don't recall Gibbs, Williams, Snyder, Cerrato, or anyone else within the organization stating that the term "core redskins" is restricted to only 15 players on the team. When anyone can find anything supporting that theory, let me know.
As for what Clark wanted, he made it clear in the article mentioned earlier that he wanted to start. And I think he deserves that opportunity considering that he had to beat out Bowen, Stoutmire, Prioleau, and Andre Lott (a year ago) to get his role with the team. It's not like he was a liability or weakness in our secondary.
Someone mentioned that we don't know what his teammates think of him. Well, I do know that Gregg Williams has praised him on several occasions, and both Marcus Washington and Mike Sellers have also had good things to say about him.
I suggest that SOME of you do a little research on Clark before suggesting that he may not be liked by his teammates or that he hasn't stated what he wants. The articles over the past year from the Washington Post have made it abundantly clear where he stands.

I'm totally with you, man. A core guy doesn't have to be a huge star. Monte Coleman was a classic example of that, especially in the 'Skins '91-92 super bowl run when he served as a backup used in nickel situations and on special teams.

I just heard straight from Cerato's mouth that there is a standing offer on the table for Ryan Clark. I don't know what the numbers are, but it sounds like the Skins want him back.

I have not read the entire thread, but this whole Ryan Clark issue is a good problem to have....better than not having a good safety.

standing offer on the table makes it sound like they want him back?? signing arch sounds even more like they don't

If they didn't want him back, they would not have extended the offer.

exactly. which is why i wish him well. thats what we do know is that he doesnt want to back someone up. i dont think the money is important to him according to what hes said in the past.

even though now hes all like "i want to make sure my family is taken care of" oh well. liked him while he was here.
