the team has to ask the skins first. ramsey is the one that said no to cinncy.
the packers would probably look at mccown first if farve says no and he still hasn't signed.
Yes. I understand that the team has to ask the Skins first. My question was: Why don't the Skins give Jimmy Sexton permission to contact other teams of his choosing? What's the disadvantage if Ramsey's agent finds a trading partner?
I haven't heard about any interest from Cincinnati. Who reported that? Do you recall?

KFFL, ESPN, some others... maybe it was on clayton's blog. one of the analysts said his unwillingless to go to certain teams like rebuffing marvin lewis, was slowing down the process. the skins probably haven't put any limits on sexton, its just you only hear about the teams as they actually ask.

I read that the vikings would not allow Culpepper to canvass the market. My impression is that the Redskins were doing the same with Ramsey. But maybe I'm mistaken.

nah, i think its more ramsey thinking he couldn't start so he wouldn't want to go... the skins have no real reason to oppose his trade.

Randy Lange (http://www.kffl.com/link/130), of the Bergen Record (http://www.kffl.com/link/131), reports the Cincinnati Bengals (http://www.kffl.com/team/12/nfl) have been added as a possible trading partner with the Washington Redskins (http://www.kffl.com/team/37/nfl) for QB Patrick Ramsey (http://www.kffl.com/player/1938/nfl).
so now there's an official source for sure.

They have the weapons. Given doubt on Palmer's knee, Ramsey could do worse if he's only committed for one year.
Marvin Lewis had a good look at Patrick, so he knows what he's getting.

Ramsey is not going to start anywhere at this point. His only hope is that he learns a new system and the starter gets hurt sometime next year. Of the teams that have been mentioned in this thread as trading partners, the Jets are his best chance of starting. He is not going to beat out Culpepper in Miami or Palmer in Cinncy. If the Jets draft a Leinart or a Young or a Cutler, there is no guarrentee that those guys would be opening day starters. He may beat out Pennington in a Preseason contest.
