this video proves why we shouldn't get him. he had so many highlight catches they had to repeat them 2, 3, and 4 times within one two minute video.
where's the complementary video of all his drops?
Hey "that guy" who was the QB in that video? I gurantee it wasnt YOUNG or MONTANA, stop hatin. This guy is talented, if we land him ill go flippin nuts

John Clayton's take on targeting restricted free agents this year, including Brandon Lloyd, Kevin Curtis and Nate Burleson:
8. Restricted area: The restricted market should be dead. With a number of teams entering free agency with more than $10 million of cap room, what team is going to be crazy enough to waste seven days to sign a restricted free agent if it thinks the other team is going to match? Teams normally stay away from the dozen or so restricted free agents with first-round tenders. This year, it's probably a waste of time to give a tender to a restricted free agent for low draft choice compensation. The teams that have the seven days to match will just thank the other teams for tendering a long-term deal and eat up some of their own cap room. Still, a few names such as kicker Josh Brown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6558) of the Seahawks, Nate Burleson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6407) of the Vikings and Ricky Manning Jr. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6418) of the Panthers might draw interest.

This is been talked about on the radio out here on the left coast. But many didn't think if could be done with washington not having a 1st round pick. There talk a trade could get done with picks and maybe a player. Also another team may get into this as in a three way trade. I was wondering if the Jets,49ers and Redskins could be cooking something up? These kind of trades happen in a blue moon in the NFL. I just don't wanted us to give away the farm and trade high 07 picks!

he's not worth what would have to be given up to get him. if he were a UFA i wouldn't care as much, but when you have to trade players and draft picks (which could easily get us 1-2 starters) for one player who is in no way a sure-shot... well, that's a really bad business decision. Especially when UFAs and less intensive RFAs with equal talent exist.

From the Sporting News
2006 scouting report
Strengths: Has good quickness and acceleration. Uses his long arms and great leaping ability to win jump balls and make spectacular catches. Has soft hands and can catch balls away from his body. Has good technique getting off press coverage and is adept at finding holes in zone coverage.
Weaknesses: Lacks the strength to be a physical blocker and gets knocked around by physical defensive backs. Doesn’t get quality separation on deep routes and will occasionally drop easy catches.
Bottom line: Lloyd must improve his strength and show a more competitive attitude to take his play to the next level, but he should have a good career if he works hard.

Sign him, but not for too much money.

we don't have a 1st round pick, so you'd be fine giving up a 2 a 3 and a player that the 49ers want for him?

I think Lloyd would be great but I can't see the 49ers letting him get away. They are not exactly rolling in offensive talent out there. My thinking has shifted in the direction of making a utility O-Lineman our top FA priority.

I don't know all that much about Lloyd, but I hear he is a bit of a prima donna who doesn't have the best work ethic. Tim Ryan was talking about him on Sirius this week and described how he asked Llyod during an interview about his film study habits. He said Llyod responded by saying that he doesn't watch much tape because all he has to do is go out and burn a guy a couple of times and the CB will just get scared. I'm not sure what planet he is living on, but I don't think that sort of work ethic will get you too far in the NFL where everyone runs a 4.3 . . . it sure hasn't gotten Llyod too far thus far in his career beyond inconsistent play. Think you'd ever hear Jerry Rice or Art Monk say something like that?
