News articles say the Giants don't have the cap room to sign him now, but with an extension they would have the room to sign him.

The Iggles have plenty of room to sign him and then some.

If the Giants got him, that would basically end their free agent shopping for the year. They're going to need to find a replacement for Will "Powdered Toast Man" Allen as well.

Eagles are cheap asses, even though I did see they'd have plenty of money.

I think the only solution that would have suited the Redskins would have been for him to take a paycut and accept being a backup and having everyone saying "he blows assignments" and jerking him off the field every single time he makes a mistake. It became obvious that Washington wanted him gone. He was going to get cut regardless to whether or not he gave back the dough. Whenever it becomes obvious you're not wanted in Washington, you won't be in Washington much longer. See: Stephen Davis and Brad Johnson. All of those situations went down the same way.

I don't buy that he wouldn't have been cut if he hadn't given the money back either. Dead cap space has never stopped Washington from making a move. He was gone, it was just up to him when it was going to happen. If he didn't give back the money then he would have gotten cut when he would have had to hustle to find a team and take way less than he's worth.

I'm not saying LaVar didn't cause some of this, but let's not absolve the Redskins in this one.

agreed. If I was in lavar's shoes I probably would have done the same thing. If he stays here who's to say they still don't go get another guy (similar to gibbs getting Brunell + Campbell despite ramsey... whom fans generally appreciated) and then re-bench Lavar. Gibbs + Williams are Hall of fame coaches but they do what they want because they can.

He barely started in front of Holdman which is a red flag right there. The two sides just couldn't co-exist and as I recall Lavar, minus one outburst, was calm despite extreme frustration (imagine you are the redskins fans' idol... 3 time probowler, back to health and ready to take the team to a super bowl and Warrick Holdman starts over you).

He wanted to give cap room to help the team he loves, yet still start and prolong his career in the NFL, and he knew this was the only way. I still love the guy and as far as the NFC east statement... he wants to come back to fedex field and see his fans... who regardless of the situation loved and cheered him on. Frankly this terrifies me but I can't blame him. It makes total sense and I don't see how any rational controversy could result from this. I will cheer if I see him in a Philli uniform @ fedex next year. Not because I'm happy he's there, but because I'm happy he was here and played with the most heart on the team. I don't know if you say "shame on the Redskins" for this, but I have to start to scratch my head after a ton of players leave and have negative things to say about the organization. Things that I think when they leave. I start to think that maybe it's not the players, but the organization who does people wrong. Like I said the LaVar situation happened the same way as the Brad Johnson and Stephen Davis situations did before, so I don't think that much has changed.

That makes me sick! I don't buy that BS that he wants to be in the NFC so that he can play in DC because he loves it here; he wants to play in the NFCE so that he can (try to) stick it to the team for "not wanting him" anymore. Pierce basically said the same thing last year. I know the team asked a lot of LaVar lately, but I've lost a great deal of respect for him. He claims to love it here, well he could have worked something else out besides this. I hope he goes and plays for the AFC west or something so that he hardly have to hear from or about him.
As far as him playing within the division, I hope goes to philly so that he can see what a fickle franchise is really like. The fans will spit on him the first time he misses a tackle because he was going for the KO.

Do you blame him? He wants to show the skins he can still play. The writing was on the wall for LA. He actually did the skins a favor by paying back some $. I have high respect for him, bc i believe that in a perfect world he wants to be a skin. He's done alot around the DC area on and off the field. Let's let him go and wish him success except against us (and if he plays for a nfc east team).

I'm not shaming the redskins for this season (my favorite thus far as I am only 20 and can barely remember the last of the glory days), just simply the handling of his talent. They made the situation personal as the drama started suspiciously after the whole contract dispute incident (if theres a problem w/ buisness... it should stay buisness). It seems to me that a player of his caliber should be on the field more frequently then he was...regardless....

I just find it hard to believe it was ever about his talent or his contributions to the team on the field. I blame the redskins for making it the lose/lose situation that eventually resulted. If it was a legitimate talent issue... then I'll shut up, but I simply don't believe it was.

AP is another of those players who left here with some fluke desire to stick it to the skins because of whatever reason they're no longer here. I recall when B.Mitch left here, he was saddled with the same desire, went to the Eagles, Giants, and came back here to retire. We did a good job on him with both teams. So all this talk about LaVar in the NFC east doing this and that is CRAP. Personally I hope he does go to an NFC east team so we can use him up at least twice a year.

But you have to know there is more to it than that. There's personality types, there's the message you send to the rest of the team. Someone had to have an example made of them and unfortunately he was the one.
