RedskinPete 03-06-2006, 12:35 PM Dave Butz, there is a jersey I want to own. I also would like to have a Riggins, Monk, and Jacobey.
Will there ever be any of todays Redskins that you will ever think of in these lines of a Butz, Riggins,Monk, Grimm or Jacobey?

Maybe not current, but fairly recent who has to be on that list: D. Green.
Of the current crop, the only guy who has any possibility is Portis. He has skills, personality and character and leadership. BUT....
Chances are his time here isn't going to be long enough to earn that kind of status and he may simply not be tough enough. Cooley is the only other possibility, but a real long shot (TE is a tough position to become a super star at and he'd have to quit banging cheerleaders). :)
But for the most part, the guys on this team are just plain vanilla.
SmootSmack 03-06-2006, 12:54 PM I could be way off base in my thinking here but I imagine we could see a return to the days of players sticking with teams for life if there's no CBA deal and no salary cap. I mean, that's why during the 80s the Redskins could keep players year after year right? Because Jack Kent Cooke just had to write the check, so long as he had the money no one was going to stop him.
With a salary cap there's a lot more player movement than without one.
Drago 03-06-2006, 02:33 PM I gave up on authentic jerseys a long time ago. Now I buy replica jerseys on sale(these are usually the one nobody else wants). I bought a Brunnell replica last year for $25 while he was still a backup. Before the first half ended I had a starting QB jersey.

I feel that our two starting tackles are at that level.
SkinsFanfrom21122 03-06-2006, 05:20 PM Well get the vasiline, good ole Ram Rod Life is getting ready to get a running start and is once again ruining my Redskin wardrobe. First it was Champ Bailey....yep, not 1 but 2 Bailey jerseys that I will never wear again, cost, roughly $125 total. Then, my favorite player. When we drafted LaVar I was thrilled. I ran out and ordered a custom made No. 56 "LaVar" jersey. I then got another "Arrington" No. 56 as a gift. Total cost, probably close to $150. Now Im down to my 2 Darrell Greens and my Riggins. That's it, done, never ever ever again! I don't care if Walter Payton returns from the dead, plays for the Skins, and runs for 2,000 yards in 3 consecutive seasons, I will never, ever acquire Redskin merchandise for any new era player again. Yep, next purchase will be a Gary Clark No. 84, a Monk No. 81, maybe a Dave Butz. Im broke, and Im pissed.
If your the jinx, why did it take you 7 years to get a Michael Westbrook jersey? :biggthump

and thomas is even better ;)
In today's NFL you rarely see a player stay with one team for his entire career. Old school jerseys are definitely the way to go.
I can kiss my 2 Arrington authentics good-bye.

I'm not sure who I'm going to get, but I'm seriously starting to lean toward an old-timer. However, like a couple of others in this thread, I might give one of the new guys one more chance. Maybe Washington. Worse comes to worst, it will always say "Washington" on the back...
70Chip 03-06-2006, 09:28 PM If I were a young Redskin fan I would wear a burgungy sweater vest with Indian Head Logo and matching pledge beanie.
