jdlea 03-07-2006, 12:28 PM Well, Eric Moulds will probably be out there, but I think that Isaac Bruce could even fit into that category. He doesn't necessarily have great size, but he can get open and he has great hands. That could make him a go to guy on 3rd downs. Also, Isaac Bruce would be a threat so teams couldn't just roll coverage to Santana's side. He can be a game breaker and if we had Patten at 3 behind those two...wow. I think that the passing game could explode if Bruce brought anything close to what he was before he got hurt with the Rams.

Good point. As long as he's 100 % healthy, he can be productive.
RobH4413 03-07-2006, 12:53 PM I don't think Bruce would mind finishing his carreer as a redskin. Barring injury he's a sold #2.
Statistics aren't everything, but there certainly something. Look at a little statistical comparison.
Randel El = 503 yds/year in 4 years
Isaac Bruce= 1023 yds/year in 12 years (968yds/year in past 4 years)
Eric Moulds= 909/yds/year in 10 years (982yds/year in past 4 years)
Interpret as you wish.
jordanz301 03-07-2006, 04:32 PM issac would be great for our team the trio of isaac, moss and patten would be awsome. but isaac doesnt have the quarterback with an arm like he did in st louis every yr he played he get really bored really fast with the shitty QB We have. i have our qbs. i hope we keep and get rid of old fart brunell but thats another story

check the % of yds/year for WRs compared to their team recieving yds/year. randel El was watching the bus run while warner and bulger throw all day long. i don't want moulds he's been trouble in buffalo running his mouth too much i like radel el's versatility. He's got a trick option pass like we did with brian mitchell and have done w/ portis.
just think direct snap to randel el throws across the field to portis who finds cooley in the endzone. we dont even need brunell.
That Guy 03-08-2006, 02:00 AM R'el's WR production is that of a #3. you can only throw a few trick passes a year, and i think we'd really be better served by a better receiving guy. plax and ward didn't have trouble posting better numbers.
He'd be a returner and that'd be a major plus, but he really wants to be a #2, an patten is probably a better straight up WR than him.
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-08-2006, 02:06 AM I see your points about Randel-El, but I still like him a lot. He's so versatile and explosive that it's hard not to be tempted by him.
Also, remember the last wideout we picked up who didn't have great career numbers and who was pegged as the #3 wideout before he ws traded to us? Santana Moss is his name. I'm not saying that R.E. is the next Sanatana Moss, but I wouldn't rely solely on his stats in assessing his worth.
Additionally, remember the knock on Burress? It was said that Burress was a disappointment, a guy with tremendous athletic ability who just didn't produce. His stats weren't great before he went to NYC. Character issues aside, I'd say he's worked out really well for the Giants.
Ultimately, as with all free agents, whether I'd support going after him depends on his price. If he's looking for #1-type money, forget him. But, if he can be had for a reasonable price, go for him.
That Guy 03-08-2006, 02:21 AM i'm not saying he couldn't have better numbers here, but he wants to be the #2 (i believe unquestioned) and here patten has a good chance to relegate him to a #3 role (and we don't use 3 WR as a base set, unlike indy or cincy).
In his interview he said the two most important things he wanted in a team were to be a starter and to be able to return punts. He wouldn't be a bad guy to have around, BUT with the limited FA market his price gets overinflated, and with a crappy WR draft, his price goes even higher.
I'd say bruce is the unquestionable best WR out there right now. R'el is in the 2nd tier, but i'd take him over bryant at equal price cause he's a totally rock solid character and locker room guy. I don't think gibbs is even going to talk to bryants agent.
Longtimefan 03-08-2006, 08:25 PM Don't feel like looking up his stats. Anyone have some info on him? I just remember him shying away from contact a LOT after the catch.
I read today that the Redskins have already contacted Bruce's agent. I just can't remembner where I read it. I think it was on Scout, not sure. I'll retrace to see if I can find a link.
Skin DieHard 03-08-2006, 08:49 PM This is all great but w/o the CBA, we will have Moss, Patten and Thrash again with some rookie in the 2nd round. If we get the CBA, i think you grab bruce for a few years and draft a wr in the second to develop. No pussy like Jacobs either! Moulds cries too much and Randle El has never been showcased enough to drop serious cash on. Plus, Randle El is basically a Moss type. He will be usless around the goal line.
