Adam Archuleta to the Skins?SmootSmack 03-06-2006, 11:11 PM Adam Archuleta...just trying to get us back on topic jdlea 03-06-2006, 11:57 PM I don't really like the idea of adding him. He's suspect in pass coverage. I don't really look at him much different than Roy Williams. They're glorified linebackers. "If they want a slightly better, infinitely more expensive version of Matt Bowen, they should would just keep him." That's what a buddy of mine said about Archuleta coming to the Skins...he's a Rams fan. FRPLG 03-07-2006, 12:18 AM no, the 30% rule only came into effect this year, that's why guys like jansen and others jumped up in salary this season. It stays in effect into uncapped years too. jansen in 2004 made 1.3, this year he makes 4mill, 1.3 *1.3 = 1.8 * 1.3 = 2.4. 2.4 is not close to 4, so the contract had to jump more than 30% in base in either 2005 or 2006. so you're wrong :P Yup. I think your understanding of the reasoning for the 30% rule is also off. The 30% rule was provided so teams couldn't restructure th ehll out of contracts in the '06 season to be cap compliant. It was one of the poision pills they thought would force everyone to play nice and get a CBA done. Example. Player A has a 5 year deal with a 10 mil signing bonus. With three years left in '06 his salary is lets say 3 mil. That gives him a cap number of 5 mil. Without the 30% rule the player restructures that into a bonus and reduces his salary to the vet minimum. That makes his salary .450 mil(i think) and his bonus prorate 3 mil(original signing bonus prorate of 2 plus the new bonus prorate of 1). His cap number is now 3.45. But this can't be done because no player is going to negotiate down his future salary which is most likely more than 30% above 3.45 since these slaries are used as leverage by players. That Guy 03-07-2006, 12:36 AM i understand it fine. it was so you couldn't have $1 contracts this year and 20million next year. and it'll stay in effect unless a new cba comes into effect or a new salary cap is constructed at some later date without it (if the current cba efforts do die). Dirtbag59 03-07-2006, 02:06 AM How bout moving him to the Weakside spot? All he needs to gain is 7 pounds. jordanz301 03-07-2006, 04:43 PM I don't really like the idea of adding him.
